I’m thinking that maybe it’s where the world he’s at now has a much faster time than his old world. He wouldn’t be aware of it since he’s living in it but that’s the only hope I can think of if he wants to go backIt would be funny if he actually, at the very end of this series, did find a way back, but just like in this fantasy world, 500 years had already passed also in his original world. Every reason why he wanted to go back would have passed away hundreds of years ago. In fact, whatever he had there would have also disappeared since he would have been declared dead centuries ago. So, he would be penniless and without an identity in some scifi world. Unless it was all just radioactive desert with rats as the highest life form. He would be left there, crying all alone, with the way back to the fantasy world closed as well.
