Also, he used her regret to emotionally manipulate her into agreeing to marry.

That much is absolutely true.

Even though he's so old, he's way more immature than Wendy, I'd say. As a dragon, he's not particularly old, plus he was a problem child hatchling, so his chances of maturing were even worse.

Besides, it was Wendy who first charmed him, back when he posed as a dog to keep an abandoned child company.

@Matizze Someone pointed out the possibility of a dryad either living in the tree or being the tree itself in one of the previous chapter comment threads; it's also possible that the tree is sentient and might be able to communicate with the dragon somehow. There's just not enough information to go on. And yeah, that whole thing seems a lot more compelling than the main story, idk why.

for wendy aiden was a rebound to get over her prince being snatched away and tried to be a normal girlfriend
and aiden wanted to posses her but tries to respect her freewill
lets be honest he is a freaking mother effing dragon he could just take her and that would also be much more in line with dragon behaviour


currently both of them are failing terrible at being what they want to be
also literally giving her half his heart could have been quite romantic and will probably bee a major boon to her

and getting herself into a rollercoaster of emotions is probably not the best thing if she knows their hearts are linked 100% guaranteed to make the dragon anxious

People are forgetting that Aiden isn't human, and shouldn't be expected to think like one. If you read other stories with dragon characters, you'll see that Aiden is actually holding back. He even tried to adapt to her preference. Though he was wrong to withhold such significant information from her, it is rather in line with typical dragon behavior in classic stories. I'm looking forward to how this gets resolved. It is a good start for character development on both sides.

I’m hearing a lot of: “Aiden is naturally abusive and compared to other abusive people, he isn’t so bad. So what is the problem?! Wendy should have known better than to trust an abusive asshole and giving him a second chance after he promised to not lie and immediately broke that promise.”

i wish wendy treated her researchers better. she loves them and all, but from her actions i sometimes feel like they're more an accessory to her and this makes me sad since they're such a beautiful people and she should love them just as much as they do, if not more considering how mean she is to them

like in this chapter, she's not only buying rosie things because she needs ans deserves them but mainly to vent her frustration. she barely listens to what rosie tells her, her overwhelming behavior rubs me the wrong way

what aiden did was unforgivable but temperament-wise these two suit each other very well. imo neither of them deserve much

@Kusa Aiden was apparently an antisocial dragon who didn't want to socialise with anyone. Yet somehow Wendy gained his undivided attention so much that he could never forget her and followed her all the way to the academy full of people. There he needed to get along with all those people and even help them, just to get a chance to get closer to her. If she didn't charm him, why would he go through all that trouble? It doesn't matter if she was a child and he had the shape of a dog. I didn't say she seduced him, I said she charmed him. Ponder the difference between those two words.
