I know it might not be relevant at this point of the story anymore but whatever has happened to David and Stefan (the hot-blooded and the mage violinist dudes from Emi’s childhood)? Didn’t Remilia also have personal grudge against them? I hope they also show up for the banquet cause otherwise it feels like the author forgot about them…

Well, they've been utter failures in their fields without Remilia. They do get glossed over in the WN, and they do have an after story where they detail how life went downhill for each of them after the condemnation event, and how bad they feel after Pina gets exposed and they lost Remilia. But yeah, Remilia ruins everyone, including them. They will be at the banquet to watch their lives crumble.

Go milady! Collect those evidence like you're catching Pokémon! Gotta catch 'em all

And I seriously love how she live up to her frame as the villainess. She will do anything (a bit spoiler, but really she would do anything) for Emi's sake. She's definitely different from those other reincarnated as a villainess. Chef's kiss

I love how the aftermath is already hinted here. How the second prince actually feels irritated but can't bring himself to hate her. That's right, they actually can think straight but the outcome will always be favorable towards that bitch. And booooy how I love reading the scene after the truth reveal

Don't forget to put spoiler tag. It might be cliché and predictable, but it's still a spoiler nevertheless

This manga is yuri to me.
Sorry folks, not this time. The only same sex relationship happened in this series is mutual trust and respect

Remilia plays such a good "Emi" that it's easy to forget she's actually a ruthless woman who will stop at nothing to get what she desires.

It's true
He has a inferiority complex toward Emi. Learning that Emi got so jealous that she was bullying another girl make him happy because, one, it means that she care for him that much and two, that she isn't that perfect anymore.

He wanted her to be a bully because it's help his ego. He wanted her to admit her fault, he would have been forgiving her and now that she wouldn't be perfect, he could be by her side as an equal partner in life.

But she stands her ground, and he becomes pissed, he sees it as her choosing her ego instead of him. The treat of cancelation and exil was supposed to be empty, but he was angrier and angrier the more she refuse to acknowledge her fault.
mfs will do anything but sit down and be grateful

true! although to be fair, i like that the author distinguishes (in one of the old chaps) between og remelia, emi, and remelia who has learned to be loved. mc actually acknowledges that neither OGher or emi would have been able to pull this off. i think its a nice contrast that shes so ruthless and determined bc shes learned how kind and gentle true love can be :}

either there’s an error in translation or that’s some serious levels of denial and mental gymnastics from the king about his son, never intended to cancel the engagement my arse
imo the sentence is kind of stiff in EN, with it being cut off weirdly and the past tense words being redundant. (in the first place that farce, at the time…) hence making the delivery a bit unclear.

i think the context or full story is supposed to be that the prince genuinely convinced himself that emi had done wrong, hence the “farce meant for emi to reflect on her actions.”

which is odd because at the same time, prince doesnt give a fuck LMAO and just wants her to apologize for the sake of kicking her down a peg + to “generously” forgive her

it was just weird bc ud have to understand 1. prince blindly believes the accusations but 2. blew the issue up solely for his ego? and apparently wouldnt care if his gf was actually bullying someone um

This chapter brings to mind the Joker movie from recent years:

"What do you get…when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons (her) and treats (her) like trash!? I’ll tell you what you get! You get what you fucking deserve!"

Artist went hard on the opening and closing pages this time. Absolutely haunting.

Except that is what happens. One of the reasons why, ONE of the reasons why they betrayed Remilia was each of the guys felt inferior to her, and they wanted her to come crawling back to them. Remember - she blasted everyone's talents as a kid, impressed them, and encouraged them. Yet now they're struggling. Yes, the condemnation was meant for the prince to finally have one up on Remilia. The others did it so Remilia could possibly come to them for comfort. Instead she went and did her own thing and ruined them. They are insecure, which is what Pina appeals to. Sure, Pina taking the affection potions increased her favorability, but it did nothing for Remilia's status. These insecure nobles wanted Remilia, whose talents, intellect, and power left them behind, to come back to them and heel. And it will ruin their lives.

To be honest, they're really weak characters in the first place. Compare to Willard and Claude, they have very little importance. They're the D tier standard banner pulls to the S tier of a Crown Prince. And realistically, they are just stock options in the otome/galge genre (the athletic/sporty/knight and the artist) and there to make up the numbers/genre standards

Even in the WN epilogues, they are underwhelmingly developed. David has proven himself as an unworthy knight who'll betray your trust and ruin your reputation instead of being a vanguard and support. Stefan is a musical prodigy who's lost his first and biggest fan and is now totally irrelevant with the Demon Realm's cultural victory.

Both lost their purpose in life as they fucking deserved and while probably not the exact intention with the fact they have so little screentime, in the end they're just insignificant and beneath notice.

Its aight, but pretty sure Emi wuld be pretty sad to see the villianess crush all her enemies instead of fixing them.
The saddest part about this is that Emi already 'fixed' them during their childhood, from improving their lives (like saving her uncle from getting killed by bandits so he can have time to reconnect with his son) to giving them motivation and drive to pursue their dreams. Remilia isn't doing all this because they condemned her or for her own self-satisfaction, she's doing it because they mercilessly trampled on Emi's kindness just to satisfy their own ego.

First off, the art. Absolutely fantastic. Like you go through the series, and there are parts where the art just hits so hard. This was one of those chapters.

Second, there's so many layers to Remilia, like
  • The Remilia that was changed by Emi's unconditional love
  • Remilia the "because that's what Emi would do"
  • Remilia the "save the world because that's a thing that needs to be done"
  • Remilia the "assemble the evidence to prove her innocence"
  • Remilia the "I want to create a place for Emi to return to whenever she wants."
  • But underneath it all, like a monster lurking beneath the water, Remilia the stone-cold villainess.
This is a chapter that makes me glad I picked up the series.
It's so good, I love how complex she is. The way she refuses to let the mask slip in front of others, but the way she is (and we are) always aware that it is a mask. But also the way that she is constantly downplaying her own actions as "well it's what Emi would do", treating every kind action like it is entirely part of the facade. When really she is kinder than she thinks she is (but still with a ruthless core). She's so fascinating a character
