Thank god it's finally over. The only thing that was even remotely good after chapter 20-30 or so was Yugo and co.

To me this manga lost steam a while back, I just couldn't find it interesting anymore, it had a pretty good ending though. I like these type of bitter sweet endings.

I'll be honest. The promised Neverland had a promising premise delivered beautifully at the beginning.

Sadly it went haywire from the moment it was classified as a shounen. Because of that, they felt the need to 'soften' the scenario to suit younger readers and made decisive choices become 'easy' and simple.

The character development halted and they sort of regressed into washed-up version of themselves. Some characters could have played bigger parts of the story but didn't...

In such a hellish setting, the lack of death made the premise of danger become irrelevant. Because there was no real loss. The price of freedom was Norman. But he didn't die. That kid they left behind that basically was assured to survive three years ? He could have started something in the dark, but nada. Not to mention the deus machina about Lewis. And the fact the price to send humans back was laughable at most.

Even if the point that the series wants to pass is rejecting a futile destiny, not stopping or looking back to your mistakes but, rather, walking forward, for all discrimination to stop, etc, etc, it unavoidably let itself to a lackluster ending like this seems to be.
The price Emma had to pay was clear from the moment it was first discussed and the story could've ended with her living alone with emptiness inside her and her family in complete agony until the moment they die. But the mangaka said "Screw it" quite literally and kept the consistency of the series' theme. Hell, now I thought of Isabella's death and how it could have been her commiting suicide in the human world instead of a Koor Nessei moment, with which I have no problems tbh. Of course it's an anagram which people who don't understand it should read the manga/watch the anime it's a reference to and then get it.
I hope that it could've been handled with more care and thought, but this is the real world. We can only hope that they give the mangaka the freedom to write it a bit differently in the anime adaptation, if they themselves deem it necessary.

No, it's like 95% or more of manga in general. Big part of it is serialization format.
Author comes up with a premise, gets greenlit and starts publishing. Doesn't mean they have enough stuff to keep going. Very often they don't, and required consistent output might make it worse. Can't take a break to figure stuff out.
And then there is popular stuff that just keeps running because it's popular, rather than telling a contained story. And then, when it milked dry and ratings fall, it gets "finished" or just axed.

So much manga get ruined by those things.

I loved every part of it! Well, almost every part...
I don’t get why the author chose to make Emma go like “oh the cost is nothing we can all live happy” or end it with Emma’s memory loss but the gang all finds her eventually. I feel like they made the ending too... perfect? Like too ideal? After all the curiosity the manga created in me, the more I read the more interesting it got. But then the ending... just kinda left me feeling empty. Like “oh... that’s it?” I still found it an enjoyable read, but maybe I would’ve rated it higher if I never got to the ending...
