mahtan@ Magic in this universe was not that strong or even regarded as much before the 20th century and is only place under military application with the invention of the Operation Orb that is new technique that haven't been tested in war yet. So just because they can use magic, they didn't have enough time to research the potential application, and so Magic is weak in this world due to it being this is the first time it is used in a war.

A good example of what you said with application being lacking is the increasing accuracy of rifles or even the machine gun. If I recall correctly, there was a mock battle with a cavalry division and one machine gun in the British Army, the machine gunners won the battle but the cavalry commander didn't want to admit defeat and the mock battle didn't lead to any improvements in the usage of the machine gun. They still used machine guns against tribes and such, but never for proper warfare against other European powers. The increasing accuracy of rifles and the speed at which they could reload revolutionized war because standing in a line, which made complete sense for volley fire with inaccurate muskets, became target practice for the enemy.

Except when it's about war, the first thing a country see is the potential uses of the tech.
I say that because if not for that we would not have the internet nor the Atomic Bomb.

@mahtan cause their rare I guess plus people with high mana are even more rare.

It’s the same with current tech especially with jets their really expensive so you can’t use them as swarms unlike planes on ww2 where they use hundreds and thousands in each major engagment. Most of the time they just send a couple and drop some bombs or just send and actual bomb flying and if the enemy has proper air defence they don’t really send any.

But in this event in the manga just think of their fleet at Jet planes and the rest of the world are still using propeller planes. With that kind of difference in tech it’s good to take advantage of it.
