I think that that flame might have special properties like "Sacred", "Holy" or "Divine" and deals enourmous damage against demons and undeads etc.
So that is why his body melts while the normal human skeletons do not.

You can see that in the panel with the words "in the world...".
The MC's skull is melting even though it was far away from the flames but the human corpse on the right side of the panel that is actually covered in fire has its skull still completely intact.

That's a good theory, but doesn't explain how the skeleton was able to revive 3 or 4 times in the first few chapters.

Chapter 11 Death 5: 93.54% -> 92.49% (rate given following chapter with a typo)
Chapter 16 Death 6: 92.49% -> 90.14%

Notice that the rates for death 5 and 6 line up, but there is a gap between death 1 and 5. The difference is smaller than it ought to be, but that's probably just the author fudging things. The point is that the rate has only ever gone down, and it looks like it did decrease with every death. What happens when the assimilation rate gets low, or hits zero?

I have a theory that the assimilation rate has more to do with the differences in the timelines. So it would make sense for there to be smaller differences if he fails to lvl up much or make any real change between deaths.

so, yeah, I think it's a measure of how far he's strayed from the reality he wanted to return to.

Fun fact of the day/year, everything will melt given the right temperature. Some materials might shatter before reaching their melting point and liquids will, in turn, evaporate.

I do find the lack of flame on the bone rather weird ... maybe artistic reasons? I wouldn't know
