I mentioned this in another post, but you might have realized the story between the actual MCs isn't really being covered by the manga much. We barely have them mentioned on a chapter by chapter basis. Instead side characters, and mainly their fathers are what this manga is about now.

We are in the "main plot wrapped up, but have to milk it for another 6 months at least" phase.

It's an ensemble cast. The dads and friends are as much the main characters as Tougo and Poemu and that's one of the things I enjoy about the series and it's the same thing the author did in Sesuji wo Pin. The other characters are intended to be the stars of their own stories, not just supporting characters there to comment on the MCs and it leads to a more fully realized cast of characters where you can give any of them attention and the story doesn't really suffer.

In essence going the LN naming route with the title was the wrong choice and it probably would have been better titling it something like "A Story About Dumb People and Their Relationships" or something because that's basically what it is. But I'd rather have well built and fully fleshed out cast where I actually like and care about seeing their stories than having an endless stream of shallow fluff and glurge.

I agree with this take except for the last section because not even a title change can get over the shallowness of people who complain about the extended cast getting focus. Even in a manga like "Komi can't communicate," where the first chapter sets the goal of making 100 friends people still complain about the extended cast. You just have to give up on them, they can't be helped.

As for everyone else who thinks this story is "milking" itself, I don't even know what people want from Romcoms anymore. I know everyone is different but don't people complain when stories end with the couple getting together. A relationship isn't just a goal that's completed when you get together, it grows, it may end who knows. And as for this joke they keep using, they get to keep using it because these characters grow and change every time it happens.
