LN volume 1 came out recently from Seven Seas. There's quite a bit to spoil.

For those who don't care about spoilers please read below. Spoilers are based on volume 1 of light novel.

Will the idiots get their punishment?
Yes, idiot second prince who has been pretty much insufferable this whole time, he finally gets taken down. In his attempt to try and kill off his older brother and his father. His older brother, with Mia's help, tricks him into thinking he ate poison mushrooms and he outs himself for trying to kill his older brother with poison mushrooms. Mia's parents basically are hosting the party where this is happened and they were also arrested for their part in the plot. The King was in disguise watching the whole thing, second idiot prince didn't even recognize his father in disguise. A knight also reports that the assassin sent after the King was captured too, the King had used a body double to act as bait. Since idiot second prince is getting charged with treason for attempting to murder his own family, the royal family and usurp the throne, we can guess what happens to him later. As for Mia's parents, they're getting charged with similar crimes, attempting to poison the royal family with deadly poisonous mushrooms. The rest of the conspirators also get arrested.

Mia and Philia (heavy spoilers involved)
Mia and Philia are actually cousins. Philia's teacher, the retired saint Hildegard is actually Philia's mother. Hildegard is Mia's father's sister. Mia's parents and grandfather stole Philia as a baby when Mia's parents couldn't conceive a child yet. They even made up a story that Hildegard's baby was stillborn and Hildegard was hysterical from grief. Hildegard's husband also died shortly after due to epidemic. Hildegard was unable to get Philia back. After stealing Philia away, Mia's parents were able to conceive a baby, Mia. They never gave back Philia, Mia's father kept Philia as a tool out of spite against Hildegard since he hated her. That's why Mia's parents always acted so cold towards Philia and later sold her off.

Hildegard tells Mia the truth of the matter. It's also why Philia looks so much like Hildegard. After the idiot second prince, Mia's parents and the other conspirators are arrested. Hildegard adopts Mia, in a way this is Hildegard's revenge against her brother, he took away her daughter, she adopts his since he's in jail. However, despite Mia wanting to tell Philia the truth, Hildegard refuses to let Philia know. So Philia is still in the dark about it, this is mainly because Hildegard believe she failed as a mother.

At the end of the volume one. Hildegard takes over temporarily while Mia is receiving training from Philia.

'the parents of criminals must also be punished' -baka prince. Aren't her parents also Mia's parents? Is he going to punish the parents of the kingdoms current saint in a fit of rage?
Not just the parents of the kingdom's current saint. They're also his prospective in-laws. Remember, he's engaged to Mia. So he's proposing punishing his future wife's family. Right in front of said future wife. How in the world he thinks this is a good idea is a complete mystery to me.

Hey, he's pretty much doing Mia a favor, knowing they orchestrated her sister's departure in her absence while also treating her so coldly from the start. This will be the only 'good' thing that dumb prince will do before Mia drops his ass.

And like that, every noble there should immediately be wary of him. He's taken the property and title from a high ranking family that have supported him from the start.
His fiancée's family.
The family responsible for bearing the last several generations of saintesses, one of the most important defensive measures in the country.
Every single noble there should be thinking "If he'd destroy a family like THAT because another country refused to return a person he snubbed and sold to them, what would he do if WE angered him?"
