@Rozzak Not in Japan he won't. 99% or higher conviction rate means:
Either this ain't going to court due to lack of witnesses - unless he already confesses on his own in which case lawyer can't add anything anyway.
Or there's a crackdown going on, in which case it doesn't matter if he actually did anything. "No smoke without fire" is strong in Japan.
Similarly it won't come to any libel since he can't prove there's been any defamation. (Nobody can connect him to the incident. And if they can connect him to the incident, doesn't that mean he's probably a criminal then?)
