I'm a little surprised at the direction the author has taken. I feel like the plot would be perfect for a darker story exploring the relationship between the evil mother and how Sayi copes and lives with her, but I guess that's why this series doesn't have a psychological tag...

I also really felt the same after the tone ch1 set, but I guess the author wants to make this an ensemble cast journey rather than a protag-focused psychological story :’) although.. given that the beginning arc is this smooth, I foresee big conflicts in the future.
