@elixir6 (and by extension:
@NoSoup &
@BanditHadron as well)
That's actually one of my big problems with the MC's current behavior right now. Just recently she rebuked Akari for not treating Aqua like a person, but just a video game character. She stated that this isn't a video game, anymore. She has also seen that things don't go perfectly according to the video game, because of acting differently. She was also told that the reason Aqua ended up falling for the new girl is because he was unhappy with a fiance "forced upon" him, and so he "chose" a different one, but she knows that he "chose" her, and turned down an extremely advantageous offer, because he wants her.
She is being a hypocrite by treating him as nothing more than a video game character, after rebuking somebody else for doing the same thing. She continues to think about it as if he doesn't have an ability to make his own decisions. Yes, she was hurt once before, but that was somebody else, not Aqua. If she truly cares for Aqua, then the least she can do is trust him to continue to keep his word, as he has done so far. For somebody that claims to know they aren't in a video game anymore, I am disappointed that she keeps treating everybody as just video game characters.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to actually try to befriend the new "rival". After all, if they develop a genuine friendship, the "rival" would be less likely to interfere with the MC's relationship, because people are less likely to do actions they know would hurt somebody they care about (but it is easy to ignore pain caused to a random person you don't really know, when pursuing self interests). This girl hasn't shown any hostility so far, so she should be treated as a person, with respect and honesty, in the hopes that it is reciprocated, with no more caution than normal around other nobility.
