@CashCowBob Yes but I think the fact of having been drafted all her childhood, see her mother die and be beheaded in the public square all because of his sister who rejoiced until the end (the last thing she saw was her sister's grim smile) I think after that you don't really think straight ... Few people would make the right decision and behave like an angel but rather opt for the revenge especially at this time when life was difficult (especially for women) when we were too nice and not calculating enough. After maybe she will realize that this revenge is not an end in itself and that it will evolve, it would be interesting !

Is Oscar the male lead? Cause last I checked he got yellow eyes, and the one who grabbed Aria's hand back in the prologue were blue.

@Walter_vi_Britannia I'm fine with anti-heroes and revenge stories I just expect the person on the receiving end to deserve it. Which her sister at this point doesn't, as she hasn't done anything wrong yet. At least from what we've seen in flashbacks to this point in her life.

I think I just went in with the wrong expectations for this, as most reincarnation stories with (Villainess something or other) as the title usually end up with the main character being a better person. Not with them being... a smarter villain I guess. Stories with the main character being an awful person just aren't for me I guess.

@Kisa24 Yeah I guess you're right. Her decisions make sense with what she was put through. I just expect those who have been given a second chance to be better.

@CashCowBob Yes in addition considering the discussion that she had with her mother, she does not seem to be the perfect and straight heroine so maybe it is the aim of the author to show a character not completely white

I feel like all those saying that Mielle hasn't done anything yet forget at this point she was actively plotting against Aria during the old timeline and I doubt she isn't in this one either. There's a panel of the servants snickering when Aria is talking, which makes me think they're still 100% out to ruin her. I hope her mother isn't poisoned in this timeline too, it would be sad.

I love a mother daughter duo that schemes together lol, this story is very interesting, there is a very clear divide between the biological family and the step family, Kain and Mielle hate them, and actively worked to undermine and hurt them, the father himself seems to both want to play happy family and at the same time reluctant to interact with Aria (she had to grab his hand to hand over the gift), her mom is a complex person, interested in herself first, then maybe her husband or Aria. I can't say if she loves her daughter and husband, but she certainly loves her status, and wants for Aria to be recognized as the better daughter of the family, which in turn means recognition for herself? I like it, in order to survive and thrive they do what they can. Mielle and Kain didn't need to harm Aria and her mom, didn't need to kill them, but did it anyway. They've already started their work, Mielle sent her maids to spy on Aria, and I'm sure they've encouraged all the rumors about Aria.
Not saying Aria is a saint, she is certainly in the morally dubious category, but I don't read this particular story for that, I want Aria to play the game against Mielle and win, I want her to survive and thrive.

I love Aria she's great.
And also I'm confused at some of the comments here... what has Aria done (yet) that is so despicable? Being smarter and more talented than Mielle thus making her look bad? Plotting to make Oscar interested in her instead of him becoming interested in her sister? Which he apparently hasn't even met yet. None of that seems to hold a candle to actually poisoning someone and setting another one up so they get executed.

Haha I love it. I trusted mielle in the first half of the first chapter but when I found out how she manipulated and destroyed a child's (aria's) childhood I knew I wanted to see mielle suffer and regret her actions. I am so looking forward to see how all of Mielle's plans are thwarted.

i think the second time life is extremely balanced.
I mean, sure Mielle is not yet a total bitch, but let's agree, a bitch of Mielles level can be recognized since childhood, alas at 14/15 years old personality is already pretty much set in stone, so we may not see it, mut Mielle is no Saint.
Aria is by no means going to be another pushover, so, yes, i think this set up is pretty balanced, and js refreshing to see a VILLAINESS being VILLIAN to someone for a change!!
And she's not a crazy bitch to do things by one's back, everything she has done until now was take on Mielle head on, it's pretty much a Honorable duel to see who is the best lady, she ain't undermining Mielle like it was done to Aria the first time.

Balanced...?
I think you forgot the fact that Aria is basically an adult in a child's body. Not only she's blessed with a beauty that can bewitch anyone to do her bidding, but she also knows future events and has secret superpower to her advantage. There's just no way little Mielle can possibly win against her. It's even more disturbing because they execute Mielle before she could even reach legal age / adulthood.

Did she really change for the better?
Also... have a feeling that the pretty mother will still die.

Why is people even defending mielle? I'd be mad and take revenge too if my step sister ruin my life and got me executed, you'd better your ass I'll try and pay back if I got the chance, mielle is already shown to be a bitch and is just going to be much, much worse, destroying her first would be the better option

@ojoudere

Mielle has the power, wealth, the education she had until now of a Lady, her brother and father support, medieval settings right, so if she has the support from the men in the house, THAT gives her advantages. It does not seem cheap stuff for me, but they were not explicit used on the chapters.
And let's NOT forget the fact Mielle did try to set up Aria, is just that isn't not working again like the first time, and ALL that at the tender age of "14". So yeah, it's still pretty balanced to me. I'm past 20 and I as an ADULT would not take a 14y that can kill me as a "child".
And we don't know if Aria can still use the hourglass rigth, since it broke.
But how they excute Mielle before she reaches adulthood? Is this from the novel? If it is, this is a major spoiler, and one i was not taking in account while writing my first comment.

Came back here after finishing the novel. Don't drop this. The plot is very entertaining. Hmmm. In terms of Aria being villainess. Yes, she is still a villainess. But in another level.
