@ksen it's what he has actual schooling for. Cooking's a hobby. His resume is more likely to get a bite in those waters than cooking where he has no history.
@So-chan
That's quite specific. Do you have something you want to talk about?
Either way, I'm sure there are downsides and upsides to any profession out there.
@ksen yeah, I've worked both as a cook and in IT, and IT is clearly the superior career choice unless your sole deciding factor is the passion you have for cooking.
And I do love cooking, but cmon, the comparison of earnings is hilarious.
@So-chan
well I didn't work as a cook so can't compare. My highest cooking achievemnt is pancakes. I guess unless you work in expensive place earnings do suffer.
Not like IT is that ideal either, especially health wise. Spine issues, eyes issues, etc. I guess overall earnings are higher cause that skillset is relatevily more rare than cooking.
@ksen It's not about rarity. I actually don't know the ratio of cooks to programmers in western socieities, so I can't tell, but I'm pretty sure an computer engineer can bring more value to a company than cook. Not because their skills bring more value, but because their skills can create things that scale easily. Cooking is a manual job and scales directly proportionally with numbers of cooks available. Engineers build systems that scale by just adding servers. Unless we are talking about very high-end places cooks don't earn much. There's more jobs for programmers at 6digit salaries than there are jobs for cooks at the same level. I'm sure there are some, chiefs in that case, but for sure less.
Also, finally the bum decided to get a fucking job. Though I'm pretty sure the plot will turn out such that he'll become a house husband to his professional thot wife, but what do I expect.
