Re-reading and couldn't remember why it said "skip this one" and a few pages down the line I realized why. Because it's stupid lmao.

Manipuating the feelings of not one but two girls and then carelessly tossing away the girl you tricked into loving you? He could have been classy and just hired someone to play the part instead of leading the poor girl on

Ok so I'm skipping this chapter per the recommendation.
Could someone tell me if WHEN I should read this? when I catch up with the latest release? Was this a prologue type of story that spoils the story or a one shot non cannon chapter?
no, it's just infuriatingly bad, no character is likeable in this one

Weird twist and use of tropes for this first chapter.
Like it's doing several things at once without time to flesh them out.
The Mariallé girl seems to be a reincarnated "heroine" character expecting, and trying to make, things to go her way?
But the Prince did just straight up use her to test his fiance, which could have been made better if it was also a way to expose actual crime she's was community along the way. Though I guess defamation can be a pretty serious crime, especially among noble circles.
Definitely not the best intro chapter for an anthology, but good thing it's labeled as an anthology.

Feels like there needs to be a different rating system for anthologies in which each individual chapter can be rated on its own.
Which might be nice for for regular serialized chapter rating too?

Behold, easily the worst of the entire series!

I'm re-reading through the entire thing and plan on rating each of these as I go for personal reference. That being said, I still can't recall anything I disliked as much as this one. I don't think it needs to be said, but if you're 'testing' someone's love by pretending to break up with them and flirting with someone else... There are so many different forms of 'ick' involved.

Best to worst so far:

1-1 (And this will likely stay there the entire time)

Going back through all these comments and seeing the large consensus of “I should’ve heeded the warning,” there is perhaps potential solace in that some value can be gleaned from reading that chapter. It provides an excellent case study on how not to write a happy romance. Key word there being “happy”. Such a premise could work under the psychological thriller/psychological horror genre.

At first I was like 'what do you mean 'skip this one'?' Now I get it. I never want to read that slop again. What a disgusting man that prince is. Ew.
