I think Black Hood is a knocker, I remember him explaining to Fushi that there are more of his kind and that they see pain as an intolerable offense. This is because they can feel the pain of other creatures "just like Fushi fyi", and is probably why they want to kill all humans. If the knockers destroy the creatures that are suffering they will cease to suffer as well. Perhaps Black Hood wants to find an alternative to killing everything by making Fushi omnipotent.
