To be fair it's not like we were starved of development in between this scene and that, we at least had marin being forward
But making the Haniel cosplay costume... How many volumes was that?

I guess it just SEEMED longer, especially since it temporarily changed from a twice-monthly to a monthly during that time.

Edit: It started around chapter 88 posted "2 years ago" according to MangaDex in volume 12. He finished it in chapter 95 posted "last year" at the end of volume 12.

The cosplay event ended in chapter 100 posted "10 months ago" in volume 13.

And as noted in another comment I made I think that her ex is the biggest reason she feels that way. Her self-worth was destroyed by him because she could not do what he believed are the basics of a woman's job, when the reality is that everyone excels at and does things differently.

I can totally see her thinking all of these negative thoughts about our MC because she thinks that he wouldn't want to be with someone like her.

I think she really has been holding herself back from admitting her feelings because of that and he really did finally break down the wall she built up and has now admitted her feelings in some capacity.
Yeah this is the character I see now. Someone who's actually afraid to enter into a relationship because she doesn't want to ruin what they have, but is trying to show affection and appreciation for the person who makes them feel safe and comfortable.

Remembering her ex straight up saying that she's a failure and unwanted because of how she is around the house, combined with this chapter where is able to say she's in love, but only when it can't be heard, gives me a new angle on the character that makes me understand and like her a lot more.

At least inside the story it was not a long time. It's just more related to the focus in cosplay and the spacing between chapters.
If you take account the real time it was not that long.
At least not a year sleeping in the same bed
No, it was a long time (a good six months). Granted, they didn't share a bed the whole time, but they damn near did the seggs in that love hotel WHICH THEY NEVER EVEN FUCKING DISCUSSED AFTERWARD. Ahem. Anyway, progress.

I hate that this one isn't entirely impossible.

It would legit suck if this big revelation (which we all had an inkling of in prior chapters) turned out to not be an admittance of feelings of romantic interest. Like it’s there and she is showing it.

Her crying because she was genuinely upset with herself for being this way to the person who has seen all facets of herself, her realization through the years he means what he says and cares, her smiling while sitting next to him before saying that. It would be the worst…but it is possible the author does this just to troll readers. I riot if that happens.

Yeah, I went back and reread the chapters with the ex and damn was he a shithead. And then wanting to get back together with her..yeah no.

I thought it was funny because she thanked him for the few weeks they were together and he said his limit was just a week...so those two were not together for that long meaning nothing came of that relationship even remotely. BUT, it did seem to have a profound effect on her self-worth. I wonder if that was the reason it was shown so early in the story: so we see that her self-worth was destroyed by this ex and the only place she actually feels she excels is at work and her personal life is just a disappointment to everyone. We see that our MC is constantly talking her up, even in her personal life, but sometimes those insecurities can be hard to overcome.

It would be super awesome if the next chapters show earlier scenarios from her POV...even if there are no romantic undertones or feelings. I just want to see how she has been viewing things. It most likely won't happen any time soon (or at all), but one could hope.
I re read the first couple chapters and no way a sane person does that to someone she doesnt like.

I mean giving him a kiss on the cheek after asking him to unbutton her blouse is really intimate behavious even for western standards, even more so for Japanese standards.

Now watch her be like"wait we werent dating?" In a couple chapters lmao

That’s a very good point. Thinking on it maybe she did have some interest in him beforehand and the living together thing gave her an excuse to get closer. Now she needs to get over her self-worth issues.

This would be the ultimate twist. She assumed they were dating this whole time.

I think she's always liked him, but you'll also notice that she's constantly apologizing. Like every chapter she apologizes, is always asking him why she puts up with him, is constantly saying she wishes she could do the things that he does for her...

This chapter finally says something that's been implied: she's liked him, but can't say it to his face. Why? I don't know. We have clues throughout, and the character it paints is pretty dang adorable.

Why does she not tell him to his face? Because her ex seemed to ingrain in her the idea that she is NO ONE's ideal partner since she can't do anything. Her confidence is shaken with respect to that. She believes based on the ex that she would not be wanted by anyone at all because she can't do the things that some people would think she should be able to do.

Our MC has, of course, seen all of this and accepts her for who she is. I think it has been very hard to get through to her because she really believed what her ex said deep down and that our MC was just being nice to her this whole time.

I can imagine she was very happy with the relationship she had with the ex in the beginning, but that soured rather quickly. She notes when she sees him it was only a few weeks, but the ex states he could only take a week before he broke it off...so there was not a lot of time, but it left a deep impression on her.

I really think this is what the mangaka is going for with everything that has happened. She just cannot believe she is allowed to like someone as great (in her mind) as the MC because she is unreliable. She had some sort of affections for him prior and is acting on them, but steps back before fully committing because of this mental state.
