Tbh here in Italy we have a similar way of viewing getting a cold, for us it’s really simple to get one if you don’t dry your hair (everyone here does it, even during summer, unless we are on the beach ofc), or if you go out without being completely protected from the cold outside with at least a scarf and a jacket (even if it’s just a slight breeze), I think that it’s just a cultural thing and that it serves as an easy plot pointI totally understand it's meant to be an event to bring characters together and all but, I still find it a little silly colds and fevers are always depicted this way. Though, I think it's even sillier how the characters so easily seem to get them from everyday things.
You didn't dry your hair after bathing? You caught a cold.
You got wet from the rain? You caught a cold.
You fell asleep at the kotatsu? You caught a cold.
You left the AC on too long? You caught a cold.
well... Being from the same poor country I would go if it is serious so I can get a "sick leave?" (don't really know the translation for that). Because generally the only real way to recover it's a rest.Question from someone from a poor country. Do you people from developed countries really go to doctors because of a cold or flu? In my country we rest at home and only go if it doesn't get better after 2 or 3 days, which may indicate a development into pneumonia. In a public hospital you would wait 4 or 5 hours to be seen, in a private hospital at least 2 hours.
You can't even if you have high fever???Must be nice being able to take a day off because of a cold.

Idk about you but I personally feel like I'm on my death bed every time I have a feverSpeaking straight facts, I always find it so strange that they treat every illness like the person is on their deathbed. You don't need a full time nurse to help someone who has a fever and is tired, they just need sleep and maybe some meds. Also every character who gets sick seems to have the weakest immune system imaginable. The thing about the cold in manga always bothers me, because being ot getting cold is never the actual cause of an illness.
I agree a fever can be bad, but it is caused by an infection which should be treated. My other problem is blaming the cold, as you can't get sick from the cold, but it could leave you at a higher risk of infectionIdk about you but I personally feel like I'm on my death bed every time I have a fever
