I though she meant it that they wouldn't have people bothering them about their relationship if everyone thinks she's dating that guy. I feel like the way guys are now often confessing to misono now that she's "single" is bothering her not only because she's jealous but also because it feels like her relationship is less real in a way.
What she's implying is she wouldn't have to worry about all these things if she were "normal" and dated a guy instead. She's directly connecting to what the guy said in the previous chapter, when he responded to her worries by saying basically "you wouldn't have to worry about this complicated stuff if you dated me instead." It's easy to miss but she thought this same thing last chapter too (it was in small text next to when he said she should date him instead).

Honestly it's not that it's completely not understandable but Misono just comes across as rancid during all this.

She hangs out with people and makes Asuna jealous, and actively denied their relationship to someone. This is written as okay since Asuna should learn that she doesn't need to worry about Misono cheating on her. When Misono hangs out with a guy and makes Asuna jealous she implies it's Asuna's fault, when Asuna brings up how hurt she is Misono said they were just friends it's just immediately dismissed, so when Asuna is like "I mean we're only pretending we're not dating because you want to maintain your social life so why don't I just let people think me and haywhoever are dating. Misono then strikes her then says this entire argument is because Asuna keeps forgetting that as two girls they can't act like a straight couple and should spend time apart.

Like I get teenagers are impulsive, hormonal, prone to saying and doing stupid things, but like why does it always feel like the problem is Misono? Is it just reader bias since Asuna is the MC? Am I crazy?

Quick edit I know Asuna said the whole "I'm doing this for you" think condescendingly but even then it's hard to feel it's not a little justified considering their history
Same view here. Since

Since Misono basically started this whole Social recognition thing.
Because Asuna was treated like a SECRET play toy for a good amount of time. Hence Asuna probably wants to feel THAT she is NOT that secret play toy anymore. And as far as I remember they didn't really talk about that time. Nor an apology as far as I remember (yet again).
Asuna was really depressed and hurt from this as well, right?
Wounds come easily, if left untreated scars can form. Since the scar is basically being played with you're emotions and being a secret. No wonder that there comes a longing to be seen. Even though you don't know the reason for that.
But yeah Misono only says no if it comes to start treating the formed scar, it seems.

We can only pray that the author doesn't make this into some NTR stuff.
Some Misono pov would be good for us. But till of now logically spoken, I think you are 100% right.

I mean i get that explanation too, I just felt like with the way she tried to look like her boyfriend a few chapters before that I interpreted it more as people thinking I'm dating a guy than dating a guy itself. But not like it's that big of a difference

I'm reading this discussion about who's at fault for this happening and for people that think that it's Misono's fault because she isn't doing enough I just have one question. What do you want her to do?!

First of all, saying that she isn't doing anything is straight up not true. She listens to Asuna, tries to be understanding, is encouraging Asuna to speak up about her worries AND she did make a compromise where Asuna dressed up as a dude so that they can openly go on a date and that whole thing backfired massively.
And are people legitimately claiming that Misono is in the wrong for not wanting to come out?! That's such an insane take. Asuna thinks that she understands why Misono can't do it but the reality is that Misono has so much more to lose than Asuna. Just because she has a gf now doesn't mean that she needs to give up on her goals or make achieving them significantly harder by losing family support or making her school life difficult. If Asuna can't deal with that, then I'm sorry but she shouldn't be in a relationship with Misono.

Also, Asuna is hanging out with the dude who confessed to her 2 times and still has feelings for her! Like cmon...

Not me. I think that blame goes to both but honestly it goes more to Misono. Like I said in my previous comment, I get that Misono didn't want to come out. Here is what Misono goes wrong. "No smoke without fire". What is she implying here? What does she want Asuna to do? Not to talk to her classmate? Not make friend with boys? Both are unreasonable requests here. So long as Asuna isn't cheating, she should be able to talk to and make friends with anyone she likes to.

That's a strong exaggeration. Making very close friends with the guy who asked you out, and who is actively and openly crushing on you is not the same thing as "make no friends with boys or classmates."

She's so close with this guy who just asked her out again last chapter that people think they're dating. Misono knows this is the same guy, so it's not unreasonable to wonder why her GF is so suddenly close with this guy.

Asuna also (most importantly, again) didn't tell Misono about this, so Misono had to hear it from others first. So Misono must also wonder why this has been kept a secret.

So you are saying that a girl shouldn't make friend with a guy who has crush on her even though she had clear emotion and answers that she isn't cheating? It's controlling. And you do know it's toxic right? it's not like they are going somewhere just by the two of them. Hell, they are just being friendly in the class.

He asked her out and she said 'no'. That part is clear. Sorry but she isn't cheating by just being friendly with him. Not even emotionally. She has no feeling for him. So if she is super clear about it , why shouldn't she be friendly with that guy without her girlfirend? If I am in relationship and my partner imply that I'm cheating just because I'm friend with someone who I clearly rejected, I'll be pissed off.

she also did say that it was fine that they were talking but that them being alone together makes her anxious in one of the previous chapters

They had one conversation. Calling her toxic because she found out her GF has been secretly hanging out with the guy who asked her out, is a bit much. All she said was "there's no smoke without fire," which is true and we know he just asked her out again last chapter. He has his own motives. It's not unreasonable to wonder, especially when she wasn't told about this. Not sure how that's toxic. Mind you, if Misono were doing this Asuna would spiral for a month.

Secretly hanging out? Secretly hanging out that a lot of people saw them? If anything, that rumor come from people seeing them hanging out in the class. If you are talking about that rooftop scene, she didn't invite him. It's a public area and she couldn't say "get the fuck out of my sight" to her classmate without inviting problem... can she?
He has his own motives
But she doesn't. She is clear about her emotion and her boundary. As long as he didn't cross that boundary, she should be fine to be friend with him without her girlfriend implication of her doing something wrong when she did nothing wrong on that aspect.

Asuna has her own fault. She has communication problem, and she is feeling suffocated about the whole relationship that they have to keep secret and she didn't communicate about her own feeling well.

Also, yeah, going back to that for a moment, Asuna was actively willing to do whatever just to spend some more time with her girlfriend, even if it meant crossdressing to do it, and Misono shut her down. It's a conflict that really symbolizes their differences in openness, as Misono didn't care for it and just wanted to be dating Asuna, meanwhile Misono was beginning to feel lonely and disheartened that they couldn't do anything normal couples could due to Asuna's reasonable yet overbearing fear of being "different". Misono seems satisfied with the fact that she's finally "dating" another girl after forcing herself to date a boy to seem "normal", and Asuna wants to actually take part in the kind of acts that couples would actually do.

They're both afraid of being outed, with Misono scared that her friends would hate her, but she's still trying her best. They end up in different classes and can't spend much time together, so Misono waits outside Asuna's cram school so they can at least spend some time together. Asuna doesn't want to be seen with her in public, so Misono crossdresses. Each and every time though, Asuna's insistence on not standing out essentially tramples over Misono's efforts, so it's no wonder that she's gotten so irritated. It's never been a healthy relationship, with it starting from Asuna essentially using Misono as an outlet for her lust while stuck in a loveless relationship with a boy she didn't have feelings for, but I hate how Asuna wanting to have some semblance of a relationship is always portrayed so negatively. If they can only be a couple in private, then the 99% of time where they're in public probably makes Misono feel utterly forgotten and unimportant, but we're made to feel like Asuna, the girl who toyed with her heart for months, is the victim in all of this. Asuna shouldn't get a pass, especially with how "smart" she's made out to be. She's constantly hearing about Misono's problems, and doing nothing about it besides essentially telling her to suck it up, and not making any efforts to say anything like "hey, I know we're busy right now, but how about we take a train an hour away and spend our next day off together where nobody we know will see us."

Honestly, they do really need space from each other, but I feel like the time apart is only going to be used to make Misono even more miserable, so she'll have to bottle up even more about herself just to get Asuna to continue their theoretical relationship. There's no hope for them to stay together after high school considering Asuna is in the top class and constantly studying while her girlfriend is spending her time waiting for her, so I almost wish they stay apart, but I know they're going to be brought back into the same dysfunctional relationship so that the author can milk it long past its time of death.

This discussion board rules. My takeaway so far is both have heavy faults, Asuna with her repeated insecurity despite Misano support, but at the same Misano hasn't made too much of an effort to quell this especially with origins of this relationship. I think they both have reasonable stances regarding their worries and situations and there are solutions but both are not working towards them. I'm suprised Misano said they needed space which honestly was pretty mature rather that escalating further.

I genuinely hope they stay separated, asuna has shown she isn't emotionally mature enough for this relationship as it stands and misono has had enough of waiting for the maturity to catch up. Stay apart and figure your self out instead of trying to have some one else do that for you

Man that hurts. I feel so bad for Asuna cause she's too way too insecure while at the same time she wants to stop hiding, she's beem hiding since the very start and it's starting to hurt, but i can understand that Misono is still too scared of comming out (heck she just accepted her own sexuality not to long ago). Put in together that they have less time to see each otther, being in separate classes and preparing for exans, so they end stewing the feelings in their heads alone.

I will just hope here that all this hurting will pass and the two will improve.

Thanks for the translations!
