It's still funny that, of the two, she's struggled the most. It's like the dog that caught the car but doesn't know what to do with it. She never really thought through the circumstances of a gay relationship and what it might require in their setting, and it shows. I'm glad she was introspective this chapter and recognized her issues.

Now she has to hope it's not too late. Kudos to Misono for reaching out and wishing her luck despite their separation—it shows she still cares. She's always doing thoughtful things like that, so it's not surprising. I wonder why she hasn't responded, but I guess we'll see. Maybe she's also busy or needs more time.

like, this has been a yuri of all drama, and specifically the drama inherent to heteronormativity. if you want to read a yuri without that, then just read a different yuri because this one has always been this.

This exactly. Like, it hurts watching the two of them go through this, but healing with these feelings has been what the manga has been about since day one. If anything, I'm impressed with it sucking to it's guns and not just devolving into Yuri fluff that ignores it's core themes.

I would be really surprised if this were the case. Misono seemed to have accepted the reality of being in a homosexual relationship much more than Asuna, I didn't think she's going to just revert back to saying a random beard. I could be wrong, but Id be disappointed if this was the choice the author made

I mean, I don't really agree, they just have a very different view of it. Asuna doesn't mind being in an homosexual relationship, and her main issue with it is having to hide it. If it was up to her, they wouldn't be hiding it and that would absolutely solve all of her issue about their relation.
Misono also technically doesn't mind being in an homosexual relationship, but she does want to hide it, she's perfectly fine keeping this relationship between them exclusively, even if it can lead to misunderstanding in their social life.
Both are entierly valid about it.
I will admit that I do understand Asuna point of view more, especially since their relationship started as a secret, not due to it's homosexual nature, but due to the cheating, and even now that they moved past that point, they still have to hide it, and I can understand how that would be frustrating for Asuna.

I will admit that I do understand Asuna point of view more, especially since their relationship started as a secret, not due to it's homosexual nature, but due to the cheating, and even now that they moved past that point, they still have to hide it, and I can understand how that would be frustrating for Asuna.

that was never really why it was hidden, and it certainly didn't stay hidden because of that. if it wasn't gay, misono probably would've immediately broken up with her boyfriend upon realizing she developed feelings and then pursued asuna openly. but she felt, and feels, like she can't because of her parents primarily. the whole reason she wanted to go to a school not near home and not near classmates who might tell her parents was so she could be openly gay without problems from her parents.

Misono clearly has very strong reservations about being outed, and had been clear from the start with Asuna about it. The while first half of the story was her overcoming it to the degree she could even be with Asuna because of how scared she was to get outed.
Misono clearly isn't in a safe situation to come out right now, and was working under the expectation that ASU a got this too. She was wrong and now it's dealing with how to move forward.

Sorry hun, it's not a question of "if" at this point it's a question of "who". She's either going to move on to another guy, or a girl who's more willing to let things stay secret because there is no way she's got the nerve to be out in college with you. This is assuming she hasn't already.

I can't read Japanese but a quick peak at the raw for next chapter clinches it for me. At this point best we can hope for is a flash forward where they meet again in college and hopefully Asuna's able to move on by then and be with someone who actually wants a relationship with her.
