I've played a variation of those rules in the US before when I was still school aged. I don't recall that someone in the outfield/outbox could knock out an opposing player still in the infield/inbox, but you could get someone "out of jail" if you threw the ball to them. But, I think it'd have to be on the fly. So, unlike here, where Tomo bounce-passed it to the outfield, you'd have to get the ball across enemy territory on the fly into the hands of a teammate in the outfield, they'd have to catch it on the fly, and then that teammate would get a free pass to run back across enemy territory (like temporary invincibility after a revive in a video game).
