why did people get so anoyed? She is having normal interactions with her classmates, that's it. She don't need to orbit around Taira all the time but you can see she still likes him a lot on her inner thoughts.
Taira had the upper hand of being basically the only person she interacted, then one of the two persons.
Having a romance where the outcast character interact with others it's not an issue and the interactions with the males just seems romantic in Taira perspective because he is "losting his place" (he didn't really realized that he like her, it's seems)
