What I love that this manga does is that it has tropes but puts their own twists on it that makes this manga feel unique with their own identity. (You see this as you further read this manga)
Like you have a boy who's socially awkward but his earnest and honest personality is very believable and not as over the top, like it's exaggerated don't get me wrong, but it's just amusing and charming in its own way. It's how he's shy but not a loser nor a self-insert type that authors love. It's just a quirkiness that makes way for some unique interactions that he brings out and that's what makes it endearing and want to root for this dude. Like who has one of their first conversations be a poor attempt of their drawing? It just showcases how much he's fumbling but also trying and it's just refreshing overall.
Anyways case in point, I think author is using the shy, introverted boy character correctly because they treat him as a character who naturally grows with their hard work, and make it amusing to read instead of a headache.
