I dunno if she'd be a romantic rival, if only because at least one of the main two would have to commit to making it a romance thing for that to be the case.

That said - I kinda suspect she'll be a Nukekubi, just going off the final two panels of the chapter and how her head's resting on the desk, relative to angle/placement of the rest of her body (and how in the penultimate frame, it's just her head, with the little movement action lines in-frame)/

Just block me and move on, I beg you, because getting notified every time you're asspained over something I've said is getting tiring.

Or, be an adult and argue the point yourself instead of hiding behind little images like a coward.

I've been wondering about this for a few chapters now. I'm gravitating towards in-universe nopperabou being less traditional youkai, but rather humans with a low-grade psychic ability to make their faces imperceptible to others. Since it's not something Wakao has thought about (as far as we can tell so far), it could be an unknown atavistic trait from an ancestor, only triggering on Mizuno since she's interested in him. Given that it occurs even in photographs/recordings, it seems like an always on passive effect. The only thing that seems to interrupt it is her own embarrassment.
