@tungwhatup Personally, I won't complain about a scanlator being late by just 1-2 chapters. But I don't see sniping as a negative either. It would only really hurt a scanlator if they're only scanlating for superficial reasons, after all.

A lot of readers are edgy because they're already fed up with the BS that shitty scanlator groups that cry over being sniped tend to do: Hoarding titles to translate, being backlogged on raws, being slower than raws on releases, preventing other scanlators from progressing the titles' translation by crying out "sniping!", all the while never forgetting to ask for money on every single title they've hoarded.

@furopoi
since "Tensei shitara ken deshita" is a joint project with Wakga, we need to wait for Wakga to translate to typeset the chapter

But hey, Mangadex never said that sniping isnt allowed. If a group isnt translating and is backed up, fuck them, what can they do if you guys do it? Prime example would be the infamous Jaimishitbox.
Keep up the good work! THanks alot for the chapter

oh wow. this actually makes sense. also amusing that the russians have higher-res pages than LHT

@Scrwd jaimini's nothing. Champion is more known to suddenly "remember" soon as someone starts sniping their 4-month-gap projects

Ugh. Not this again.
Not the chapter, I'm fine having multiple versions and it's sometimes interesting to compare translations. It's the whole "sniping" back-and-forth again.

I really don't see what the big deal is. A translator doesn't "own" a story, so why are there so many hurt feelings over someone picking it up when it's been untranslated?

If a translator is timely and regular, than people would know and think that it's a waste of time to duplicate work when the original team is more familiar with the story's wordings and has nuances that the readers would be more familiar with.
If the project has been left alone with no discernible date of release, then why wouldn't you try to take matters into your own hands and keep the translation going? If a translation group has such a large backlog that they can't touch a series for months, then maybe they're overworking themselves to begin with.

@tungwhatup that's reasonable, though the point of that comparison was that you shouldn't deviate from your release schedule just to counter-snipe in the first place. i hope you work something out about this series with the other group though

Ah, my favorite, Tolkienesque medieval fantasy worlds where they use terms like "first-world problems." It's not immersion breaking AT ALL~~~~

A yes, the classic "big scanlation group just so happens to release a chapter immediately after someone else did it while they weren't doing the series for several months".

C'mon guys, we all know LHT is hardly the most reputable scanlator group around. It's almost expected that they'd do the whole counter-sniping thing. They're just here to profit after all

@GalladeGuy "Several Months" ?? Japanese release hiatus for 2 months, the raw of this chapter release 1 month ago. LHT still have a 2-month for English release. the 3-month rules don't apply at all. The one who snipes is the no group. I_Do_Cooking_Manga guy stated that he is not to try sniping, he just wants to spend his free time.

@Olfyz Doesn't change that they were a month late and released the day after someone else did. It's pretty hard to believe that it's a coincidence.

@Rockdrop What if sniping lead to no one translating the manga? I have seen a lot of series got dropped that way and remain untranslated to this day. The group that got sniped feel frustrated then drop the project then the one sniped the series drop it too because they only translated a few chapters as a hobby and lack the manpower to continue it and usually, the sniped version is poorly translated and low quality.

I am grateful for their work no matter how late it is because translating manga isn't their real job.

@miyako19 That's still a big what if compared to what's happening now.
I'd rather risk that what if chance of a series getting no translation by always leaving it open for any aspiring scanlator rather than making it exclusive in the hands of scanlators who only plans a partial translation to milk for donations while keeping other scanlators away for any chance of a full translation. Get it?

@GalladeGuy Something still changes
You said "several months" before, Now you said "a month".
There is no coincidence, it's pretty obvious LHT does counter sniping.
