Honestly him being a coward is something I'm fine with. Originally he just wanted to leave the country he was summoned in to avoid their self indulgent war. Then Feru strapped himself onto him before he could even really consider what he wanted to do, which I assume was to settle down into a nice town and peddle out the goods he gets from his market and live a comfortable and peaceful live. Now that he's the contractor to a legendary beast he has no choice but to keep on moving because not only does he need to get fresh ingredients for his gluttonous companion, he's also a walking political liability.

I remember how a mot of people were annoyed at how cowardly he is but you have to understand, he's only just 1.2x-1.5x stronger (based on his stats) than the normal citizen of the country. Yeah, he has Fer's barrier but its so transparent that it caused him more of a mental scar to see heaps of bloody monster corpses the moment he wakes up, him being put in life threatening situations where its something close to watching everything in 3d. No worries though, once we reach the labyrinth city, he'll get some backbone once he gets a new power up

@Shakur I mean I don't have a personal favorite but there are plenty of isekai's out there better than this like Re:Monster, Kumo Desu ga Nani ka, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, and Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu just to name a few.

Your analogy would only make sense if you replaced the gun with multiple nukes and you gave yourself essentially impenetrable body armor. Because that's where MC is right now, and he's still scared to death. It's ridiculous.


@Hypothon @blacksaber79 People are mad at him for being a complete pussy. MC is not an average person. Your average person would realize that they have a godly companion like Feru with them and after being in repeated battles for 28 chapters, they would realize that the chances of them receiving any serious damage are low at best. MC on the other hand, acts like he just got thrown into this world 5 seconds ago - at all times. He's more scared than a toddler would be, constantly. It's flat out pathetic.

@stikyfinkaz this manga can go up to 400 chapter and you will still need convinced the MC to fight, that’s just how it is.
He literally wimps, and the author didn’t give him enough reason to be brave in the first place, heck he got himself 2 absurdly strong body guard

If you read the raw WN, it actually goes up to 4, with the last one even more of a doozy than Feru/Fel...

@lolmaolol Look at it from his point of view - yes, he has a Fenrir and an massively OP'ed slime, but outside of Fenrir's barrier, he's pretty much a low-level adventurer (at least in terms of stats). If a dumb noble decided to go and kill him in a town, they could easily just pick a time when he's away from Feru (and he's done that many times), and crossbow him in the head. Of course, the noble would be dead from Feru and Sui's rampage afterwards, but that's small consolation for him. As a hypothetical, an enemy of the country he's in could deliberately do that, and claim it was the order of the country they're in.

Further down the line, he gets a cool skill from some new gods that negates a majority of this, and he does get a little better at wanting to fight.

Yes, but also no. He doesn't come across scenarios like that. Every time he's shown his cowardice has been in the presence of his two overpowered companions. That's why it's pathetic. It's different from your analogy because he does have them there and is still a complete pussy about it.

@lolmaolol True, but also realize that it's been around 2 to 3 months since he's arrived in this world. He knows he's weak, and while he understands he's got the protection of the two OP battle-crazed monsters, it's not like he's getting any stronger. I mean, would you go and fight a flying lizard with a poison tipped tail after looking at what it just did to a comparable (stats-wise) person? What if Feru's barrier slips just a bit? He barely understands how magic works, so it's not inconceivable that he might not completely trust it. And the other monsters they've encountered were all A or S ranked, taking large groups of equivalently ranked adventurers to subjugate with large losses. Even the goblin and kobolds "herds", he ran out of magic and collapsed before Sui or Feru took care of the rest - which means it was beyond his capability.

Then again, this is a story, and the author can dang well make the characters do whatever the heck the author wants. 😁

Which goes back to my point of him doing this for 28 chapters now and not changing his attitude towards combat in any regard, regardless of what's been shown by his companions. Has Feru's barrier ever been shown to go down? No. Has he ever come close to dying while with his companions? No. Have they shown that they can fight most monsters they encounter? Yes. And yet he still cries like a pussy at the thought of fighting even a level 1 monster.

I think you all forget that this is a gourmet manga
MC is more entranced to the possibility of getting delicious food instead wealth and glory

Dont expect much other plot than cooking, eating and Sui's cuteness
