TBF the whole issue with Karen is that she had that rejection because she didn't want to be hurt, Haru successfully chipped away at her shell and wormed into her heart and made her at least partially accept him (even if her reflexes and embarassment don't), so it's not hypocritical here; she's changed, and that's what it's meant to show, if anything.
