maybe he'd have had more luck with pokemon cards... i've recently been trying to sell my cousin's old yu-gi-oh card collection and holy shit, most of them are pretty much worthless. friend of mine who collects them said his collection lost like 90% of its monetary value over the last few years

meanwhile older pokemon cards can have pretty crazy value

Yeaaah, as someone who plays cards, that'll happen. Sometimes you got new shiny cards that are worth dimes on the dollar, sometimes you got old cards that are worth 10-20 dollars even if beaten up a bit, and sometimes you got brand new cards that are super shiny and worth 400 dollars, but only for a week. Given the cards were in a rubber band, they probably weren't gonna be worth anything tho.

Yukio-kun should study under Kogane's mom if he wants to be a successful mischievous thieving kitsune. He's gonna have to be a lot more honest with himself and forthright with Mutsumi if he wants to make any progress. Good on Kogane for wanting to help the kid out after receiving a present that meant so much to her. Also, I'm not sure, but I think Doji is wearing hopelessly out of date human clothes, hence Kogane's remark about "strange people". Or maybe Doji just gets no respect. Thanks as always to sarusa and Thumper.

Yeah, I should add a note since I have room. To me it's not 'Call the cops!' but the outfit he's wearing is pure 1910-1920s Taisho Roman, especially the flat hunting cap. A time when all the fashionable people were adopting western clothes. But now hopelessly weird.

To us (depending on where you're from) it would be like some guy wearing a penguin tuxedo, stovetop hat, and pencil mustache.

Card prices can be rough.
Made a decent side gig buying/selling Pokemon cards way back. Stopped around the time they discontinued the OG Blastoise cards. Never played, but kept a thumb on the pulse so I knew what to buy/sell for. Also did MTG sales despite never playing that either. Both were decent enough returns for the time put in.

I eventually got out of it as it ate up too much time that I honestly would rather do pursuing my own hobbies.

It did remind me of what the upperclass men in Taishou Otome Otogibanashi wore, but I doubted myself. Glad to see it was just the clothes and not Doji himself getting called out.

Go, Yukio! :wooow:

And while I don't collect cards, I do collect records, and let's just say the very small market for classical music on LP works in my favor one way, and against me the other....

Thanks for the chapter!
Collecting is one thing, but treating it as a savings deposit... I once had a client who wanted to pay with some old vinyls, claiming they were worth "easily 10 times more" than what I asked. No idea why bro though I'd somehow be able to make that liquid, when he clearly couldn't. If it was even worth anything at all, I certainly couldn't tell.

Yeah, with any asset like that, if someone thinks it's worth $X, let them go out and get $X for it. Occasionally I have to explain 'actual current market value' vs. 'it sold for this absurd amount one time on some website' when I'm holding down the counter at the local record shop for my one shift a week, and that's never a fun time.

It's worse if you're in the business to send it along to the next person.
"I've got to make margin on it, too" is not a line collectors like hearing.

In addition to trucks, I've heard of people getting isekai'd from trains, wardrobes, rings, suspicious gaps in trees, following strange lights or music, and just plain old dying (especially after some sort of contract). Just off the top of my head. Trucks are merely convention.

In conclusion, Yukio and Mutsumi will disappear from the story soon, and we won't learn where they went until the isekai spinoff manga.

Ah Yukio, you poor fool, personally I believe you're fighting a losing battle but I could be proven wrong.
