Depressingly enough that is usually the best way to quit a japanese company or quit just when you get your salary because some will just screw you over and not give it to you if you quit.Damn, at least he got a good most likely paid leave before gtfo-ing.
Are you saying you've never experienced similar treatment? Being considered a resource to exhaust is standard all over the world. the only thing keeping it somewhat in check is strict regulation (where it exists, anyway). This is why every private company should be held to a draconian standard and punishments in every aspect, it sure as hell won't choose an employee's well-being over potential profits by itself.my anger kept increasing the more I read, man. Fuck them, the company, the coworkers and managers. All of them, I feel you Author. Honestly, any other person would've clocked your boss for that bs comment. I'm glad he quit and found fulfillment with his drawings. No wonder there's a lot of suicides related to work pressure and those people won't even bat an eye just to reach a f quota for a company that also does not care about them. Apologies for the rant
All it takes is keeping in mind that you're only letting him screw your life over even more in exchange for those 2 seconds of satisfaction (not counting the hurting hand). Payback works best on a cool head and by surprise. This is why I shake my head when I see people screaming and threatening lawsuits, all they're doing is initiating the company's process of building it's case against them, giving them time to pull out (or fabricate) any kind of shit that might work to their disadvantage. I never threaten to go to court, I just go and give no indication of my intents in the meanwhile. It's worked pretty well so far. That was some major self control for not punching that boss in the face I would simply leave after that comment and tell them I don't feel good.
I think i wrote that wrong I'll edit it for more clarity, but I would not punch him. I would simply leave. Also in Japan, suing your company is not really a factor and mostly pointless, so building a case isn't really a factor unless you can frame them as a black company. All it takes is keeping in mind that you're only letting him screw your life over even more in exchange for those 2 seconds of satisfaction (not counting the hurting hand).
This is why I stressed regulation. It's already been discussed on another chapter but Japan has a ridiculous amount of acceptable manadatory overtime hours, more than twice what most European countries have, which is at the root of all the things in this story. I don't know how their other legislation stands, but where I currently work, being reprimanded like that, especially in relation to a medical issue is strong basis for a mobbing case, which would be handled by a national labour court, probably not to the employer's favour.I think i wrote that wrong I'll edit it for more clarity, but I would not punch him.
