Nice that the humans have a support network among themselves.

Would have expected Mutsumi to be way more over the top with the watermelon seed spitting, for some reason. And would it have killed them to bring Mugi along just to get her some screen time?

Thanks for the chapter!

Maybe the kitsune are fond of cats. Domestic cats aren't any danger to foxes, though they do compete for food. But these spirit foxes obviously wouldn't consider normal cats much of an issue.

As I recall, "nya" can be an onomatopoeia for smirking, or a smug smile; "nya" would accompany a character suddenly smirking, while "nya nya" would imply the character has been doing it for a while. I think the "-n" ending is just a variant, since she's also an animal ("nyan" being the signature onomatopoeia of cats).

That was my thought, too. More specifically, though, it's "niya", where both syllables are pronounced separately rather than run together. For extra smugness, it's "niyari". Tilde optional. Personally, I think Zanma-sensei just wanted to draw a cute fox making cat noises.

Did they get a premonition of some kind? Could it be simply foretelling the coming of cut watermelon?

Last paragraph of the TL note page, "Mutusumi" should be "Mutsumi".

The humans gather as the storm Mogami-sama predicted builds. Nice tension this chapter.

A quick rundown of where our yokai characters are as they live among the humans and how our humans view it. Good stuff.

Some may not remember the guy who brought the watermelon at the end of the chapter. That's Douji, the political leader of Kogane's monster fox village. He still seems attentive to Akane, but there's a real Maison Ikkoku situation going on with Akane still grieving her dead-in-backstory human husband. I may be reading too much into this extremely minor quasi-subplot, but I am paying close attention to it, nonetheless.

Ah, good to know. There were a few lonely braincells saying that it wasn't "nya" but something close, so maybe I should have listened to them. ^_^;;;

It was a reasonable thought that I had completely overlooked, no harm in floating it!

The Late Marrying Fox commenters are pretty darn friendly, IIRC we've never had an actual flamewar? So I think we can all be mellow and go 'hmmm, maybe, but I don't think so?' instead of 'oh you f@#$ing @$# for even suggesting that!1' like a lot of other series. I'm glad you suggested that, and I'm glad SkyCat was polite with 'Hmmm...' Group hug! ... especially if we can get Mugi-chan in there.
