I definitely think the whole manga spent maybe the first few chapters, tops, meaningfully pretending to be a "detective story" in terms of genre and structure (rather than simply the subject), and even in those chapters it was only pretending, as most of the apparent clues in the first case also ended up being loose ends, red herrings or unsolvable. I count it as a bit of a failure for the manga as a whole, but don't even bother worrying about it with each new chapter, as that particular matter has been a dead horse since literally (checks calendar) 2020.

People really don't get that the genre of an story can change mid story... Ah, and strictly speaking this is part 3 (or part 2, if you don't count the change of artist as a dividing point between parts), so...

Then that's a bait-&-switch. And that kind of trope is looked down upon, nowadays.

Definitely a failure for the manga as a whole.

This kind of bait-&-switch only works if it's done before the end of the chapter. You DON'T make readers wait until the crucial point before pulling the rug. You either give them what they came for or make it clear from the first chapter what kind of story it REALLY is.

The very fact that this story STILL has "detective" in it's title is a failure for the manga. Don't call something what it's not.

It's not a detective story, and it's not a Satori story. Thus, the only thing this story is...is a FOUL.
