Imma be honest I don't get heartbroken when reading, it just made me sad and drawn with my own thought. Here's the recap (I skip a very important act cuz I think you should experience it for yourself) of the ending for who is thinking it's a bad end (It's rather good, somewhat bittersweet ending)
Spoilers
For anyone wanting to know, she did not die (at least not during her college years), she survived and lived with and married the mcl, fully fulfilled the rest of her dreams before she died of breast cancer in her 40s.
They both had a daughter (like what she had wished when suffering cancer in her college years), done what every parents and wife and husband wants (like honeymoon, attending parents day and traveling every year). btw this is the time skip in the light novel so I reckon y'all won't see any.
The mcl passed away peacefully in the light novel of vol 1 cuz he had got colon cancer (just like his wife) when his daughter was 25 years old.
I'm still finding way to read the latest vol,(with English translation) cuz they won't sell such 'niche' thing in Vietnam and I can't use Amazon or bookwalker cuz I don't have a bank account.
Opinion
I think the author should have commit into the timeline rather than time skip it (mind you I haven't read the second vol so I might be wrong here). It could lowk get repetitive with the sadness of the mcl so much that you can become numb to the fact the mcl is sad af. It's generally an 8/10 for me and if you want to find something depressing to read but bittersweet ending, you should look into this light novel (or even manga and anime). Light novel has finished*
