I figured we'd get an actual all-out brawl between the four of them, because it's the perfect place for the artist to show off in that respect.
But realistically, I cannot stand how Cross just ....doesn't do anything to stop it. Just some stuttering at the start, doesn't try to clearly communicate what's wrong--and more importantly what isn't wrong--right when they get there. And lets it drag on like this with no effort put into trying to stop any of them. (Because all he would have to do is scream "wait she didn't hurt me stop and listen please" and I wager they would do so, given how much import all four of them put on him.)

I will never understand characters that behave that unrealistically simply to allow "hijinks" to transpire, especially when the consequences of Cross not acting here include the real risk of widespread death and destruction.

But I get that the meta-argument for why he's weirdly mute and dumb in this moment, so I guess that's what takes precedence.

He's 14, was previously viciously bullied by Giselle, and has no idea he has a crush on the Brave.

You're expecting a 14 year old boy who's been bullied by a girl to calm down four grown women who are thirsty for him, while he having had no romantic experience whatsoever.

Poor Cross. It is a sign of how strong he has become to not pass out while being dragged into this apocalyptic battle.

It is great that Seras could keep up with those three for so long (carrying Cross might be effective as shield, but on the other hand she had to fight while having one arm occupied). This thieving cat is too talented to not be recruited to the S-tier groomer party.

Telomea's fighting style is insane, I don't really want Cross to copy that.

To those of you complaining about Cross not trying to diffuse the situation. He is, but;
1) None of the three predators are in any right state of mind to rationalize anything he's saying.
2) He's a virgin that was bullied by a girl, that doesn't really have good enough communication skills with those of the opposite sex to open a proper discussion, that isn't dominated by the fairer sex.
3) Seras is unapologetically rage baiting them, with misleading statements. Which adds to the things he's trying to explain to them.
4) By the time overpowered catfight begins proper, there is little room for him to get a word in edge wise.

He wasted multiple seconds at the start not speaking up immediately, though.
Like I've repeatedly said. I get why it's written this way. We got a huge landscape-reshaping brawl and lots of flashy combat panels. That doesn't happen without Cross being slow on the uptake and stopping this before it starts, and it's exactly the sort of miscommunication that allows physical comedy and shenanigans all over all sorts of manga genres.

But given these four could realistically cause mass destruction being allowed to do all of this, Cross being aware this is very much the case, and Cross's general aversion to such things, him not making that effort to try and be clear about how he wasn't in danger right away to stop it, in-universe it's kind of silly that he didn't make every effort from the moment they showed up looking angry.

There's a lot Cross could learn from this entire combat since they're all very heavily Skill-based using the top-tiers of their respective Class Skills, I hope he's actually paying attention and not too busy buying into the misunderstanding to prolong the arc for sales
