I'm not gonna lie the original really was just better than this reboot. It feels too generic, instead of the actually good narrative and comedy that the original had this one leaned into being every typical school gang fight stories out there, except the mc is instead hella unlucky in his fights (which doesn't make it as funny, and if anything just annoys me on whether he'll win the next fight or another cliché where he loses from something out of his control). The original had substance to it, if they were gonna make a reboot I would've at least preferred just a new stylistic choice rather than rewriting what made the original good in the first place
