What was the point of her joining him if she was going to peace out 5 minutes later? I guess it was to develop her as a character beyond "childhood friend he left behind" but I expected her to contribute more to the plot.

To be fair to her, her stated purpose was "to see the world and find what I can do". It wasn't a given that she would stay by Zechs' side at all times. We could even say that she seized the opportunity of leaving with Zechs, and that she was genuinely worried about Leon, but that once she began to see the reality of war, she had other ideas.

More pragmatically, it was probably a plot device to keep her away from danger, and prevent her from becoming a burden to Zechs as he approaches an actual ongoing battle.

I'm not even sure where this is going. I truly hope that the author won't spend like 5 chapters on just doing nothing.

She never said she was sticking to Zechs forever, she just wanted to see something besides her village. She decided to help people, perfectly reasonable.

I'm not even sure the writer knows where he is going...

He's switched from "revolution because of unpalatable discrimination and blame culture" to some extremely convoluted moralistic "pacifist" ...crap with the MC continuously simping and agonising over stuff that's tossed straight in his face time and time again.

It's the author first serizaliated work, sadly he doesn't has a weight in his name to give a more proper peacing to the events, another case was Zech's remorse and suffering by killing many people in the war, it was extremely rushed if compared with as example; Thorfinn's remorse and making peace with it.

Surprised to see Nia leave the stage at this point but I guess the author probably figured he'd need to give Zechs the pages to focus on him coming to terms with his trauma.

Also, respect to the scanlators. That breed of scanlating is all too rare these days. Some of those titles sounded interesting but free time for translating is just as scarce past a certain age.

Yeah sure the pacing was a bit off but one thing for sure is that I hope this manga won't get axed soon
