I guess I can see how they‘d be abetting it, but you could very well argue it was due to fear via threats.

Touri DESERVES at least some sort of weapon at this point in the story, like seriously.

Also some guy said that the commander was incompetent a few comments ago? The others I agree with, but not really incompetent… I mean, yeah, they are if you consider the survival rate of the soldiers, but otherwise, if based solely on performance, they wouldn’t be considered so.

Yupp. Old Laws where VERY stupid sometimes, there are whole studies done on how crazy things went in WW1 and 2. Some still are. I assume the intend is to make sure to make this happening as difficult as possible as the Womans head would also be on the chopping block so they would fight it with nail and teeth. A stupid way to do it really but this is a world that enforces discipline by "If you disagree with your commander you can be executed" so it pretty much fits right in.

For the later part ironically I'm with the Commander this time. This guy assaulted his comrade and no sane soldier would trust his back to him anymore. The guy that stopped him is incredible naive, I doubt it will survive the first round of combat though.

Yeah regarding that ... he doesn't. This is pretty much just slander the guy repeated, If you remember the early chapters you notice the guy who is always in front and in the thick of it is the commander. There is nobody in front to use as a meat shield because he "is" the Tank in this party ... and the DPS Only thing lacking for him was a Healer and our poor MC got grabbed. Of note they actually point out that the casualty rate of his Squad is actually rather low despite him putting them through the wringer (and being a colossal ass usually).
