yeah just found this today and while I don't dislike what this story is doing, honestly I think at its core if Est had just been fired from his party while being told "the fact that you can't enchant yourself puts you in enormous danger so we can't keep you working with us because chances are you'll just die one of these days" and then had Est go turbo asshole regardless because he just wouldn't accept that as the reason would make this story work in a way that it kind of just doesn't as long as Est was thrown out without being given the reason why.

I like how Mirialia goes "I'm on to you, you're hiding your powers, aren't you?!" and Daru goes "well so are you, right?" and she just responds "yeah I'm probably even more powerful than you are. Well, good night."

Perhaps she's not quite sure of it, and tried to make him spill some beans. Every one of them can sense Athena has a lot of unused potential, and Mirialia obviously would know her own potential. Frey simply isn't using properly even the strength she openly displays, and likely has more untapped. Daru, however, is the real question. He's older, so his pure physical strength and resilience will start to wane. He stated straightforwardly he beat Frey thanks to his experience. So, it's quite reasonable to suspect Daru is the one who can't actually get any stronger anymore, although he might have some skills he hasn't displayed. But after revealing those, that might be it for him. I reckon to figure that out was Mirialia's reason for this discussion. If Daru is still hiding a whole lot, there's no problem, but if it's only a little bit, he will fall behind when the others grow a lot stronger.

Yeah it sure feels like Athena had good intentions but massively miscommunication due to PLOT REASONS. And then the other two just wanted to show off how much they're "tch barely using one percent of their power" so they didn't say anything when Athena was agonizing over kicking Est out because she well and truly could not protect him anymore and thought the other two couldn't either.
Because of course if Est wasn't in actual mortal danger she'd have been fine waiting however many more months for him to have his breakthrough. But now, while I can believe Daru to have had the good intentions to be like "yeah I actually can't protect him even with my full powers, (and also my previous partymembers probably died or something which is why I'd rather protect Est by kicking him out)". Mirialia sure has just been glad to see Est gone since the start.
And hey now that Est has become a turbo asshole, through no real fault of his own the author can get away with having Stardust sympathetic by virtue of not being the worst of the two. And yet even here I'm like if this story had just been written to make Est become an asshole through refusing to see their genuine concern and even the misunderstanding that Daru and Athena are together when they're not instead of giving him reason to think that they're the worst (because they kind of are). It would have made this story a lot stronger.
Ultimately though while I can accept Daru being stronger than he lets on because he's keeping to the pace of the team, and is presumably carrying trauma with him regarding the untimely demise of team members. Mirialia being stronger than she lets on is just completely, "oh so she's just the worst then and the only reason Est was kicked out is because she's the worst I see" which is as you already said such a shame. And like while Athena's worst crime at this point is still massive miscommunication that starts looking to be more and more out of character the more we see her being a good leader to her team. It's just...
The concept isn't bad, but wowee should the first chapter have kept in mind that these people aren't supposed to be the bad guys, because they could have kicked out Est for the exact same good reason and given him that good reason and this story would be fine. It's so close to being good, and I'm going to keep reading unless it bungles again. But god do you really have to pretend that they kicked Est out like the reason we're being given was ultimately true (which due to Mirailia "I'm hiding my powers" it isn't) and you have to pretend like Athena actuallly gave Est her reasons rather than giving him nothing at all.

Lmao with every single upload of this manga, its rating just nosedives. It's magnificent, really. Last I saw it, it was 4.71, now it's 4.63. Just a little more and it'll be well and truly be crowned one of the worst mangas in this site. It'll earn its rightful place in the hall of shame. Let's gooooooooooo!

Now they are officially the most unlikable party ever.
Until this moment the lesbian elf was just an annoying side character who disliked Est because she has a crush on Athena but at least it didn't seem as if she was actively trying to drive him out of the party. That was the only positive thing you could say about her! But hiding her true power to the point that she would watch Est dying?! What a .....
Daru reached the point where you could call him the driving force behind Est's demise. While the elf realised his strength only after the fight with Frey he knew that she hid her power from the beginning. That should be a thing you should talk about after a teammate almost got killed! But he doesn't give a sh*t. And again, why doesn't he clear up the misunderstanding, reintegrate Est and make them really the strongest party where nobody would die. He must be really afraid of Est.
You can't even like Athena because she is the most stupid and spoiled character ever. She doesn't think about Est (who supported her until she threw him away) once and continues drinking happily with her party members. She should really work on her problem with alcohol (at such a young age) because she always misses the most important information because she's knocked out. You could just pity her, not because Est is "so mean" to her but because she is deceived by all her other teammates. She's a joke of a leader at this point (more like a puppet). All her teammates are stronger than her and she doesn't know anything that's going on. She's carried and manipulated by them so that she can use her "true potential" somewhere in the future.
If you have to pretend that some major events in the story happened differently to make it readable it's far away from close to being good. There are so many bad and provoking scenes that it seems like the author and the mangaka intended to create shitstorms to attract readers. That's sad because, as you mentioned, you could have written a pretty good story with the initial idea (banishers' perspective).
I think most readers just keep on reading to see how much worse it can get or they still hope for some kind of happy ending for Est (knowing the author's perception even a happy ending will still be a kick in the gut for Est)
