[This is just a headcanon]

"Ed never left Tia's side after casting the skill."

Wow, a familiar twist to the trope of "getting transported into a better world". But... yeah, I want to pay respects to the OTP as they sat together in the bad ending.

Who knows, maybe the impossibly bright light from back then implies exactly that: just a transmission. Nothing else.

Considering that, it's easier to think of Ed now as a different self - his own person in a new timeline that inherited the old one's power, knowledge... and heart.

No wonder he received those memories as if "bestowed" from that cryatal ball further down in the past.

No wonder he still considers the O.G. Hero Party as a new group of people, only slipping a bit in terms of familiarity thanks to these new memories of them that he gained.

It's a new timeline - for the hero party, for the fate of World 001 and all the worlds after it (if ever, in an imaginary story outside the reaches of this manga), and for Ed & Tia.

Dang it, this OTP is giving me hope.

p.s. I'll save that panel with Ed's mea- uh I mean the Hero's cold, cold, cut-in-half steak

Why did the old man with the monocle recognize him from the previous visit when he arrived at the ruined town 10 years later, if time is reset?

I had thought this back when Tia was explaining what happened to her party members before their ends, but this chapter pretty much shows that Alexis is(allegedly) in love with Tia. That's why he gave her the teleport crystal. And despite all that, Tia never once acknowledged that love; she just saw it as "a hero who puts his party members first". I guess she has always liked Ed, even when he was just a weak porter with no skills.

But if Alexis is strong enough to compare to Ed, how'd the hell both him, Gonzo(?), AND Tia get overwhelmed by normal forces? If there were generals, then okay, but it sounded like it was just a bunch of fodder enemies. Well I guess in reality, even powerful warriors can get overtaken with numbers.
