It's better they could actually name substitute ingredients, instead of only listing ingredients the temple can't acquire at all. This way making the medicine is possible for the temple, so the donation of information is honest, but since the temple can never compete with the Kuzunoha company, it's of little consequence to their business.

there’s a novel yeah, that and a monthly release schedule makes it feel like its doomed to trail behind its anime counterpart (which is also good, if lacking the same level of detail)

it's more frustrating how much detail is skipped in the anime. it's good enough to warrant following the manga chapter by chapter imo
