Maybe it's you since you can't understand it?

It is just needlessly convoluted bullshitting to explain why someone is ugly. There is nothing more to understand.

Looking at the reactions i got for that post it seems i touched a nerve with. Pfff

How do YOU explain what an RPG is to a person from a person in a medieval era?
Maybe with some equivalency, you can somehow manage it?
The level and rank system are pretty simple, I suppose.

Level - By doing things you get experience, and with experience you get stronger. In that sense, RPG level is just clear, visible boost. It can get you strong enough to muscle your way through most things, but the people that survive for long need to use at least some semblance of strategy.

Rank - a mix of level and reputation, achieved by either doing things consistently well or achieving great feats.

Job system will be just too long, but I'm sure the classic Warrior, Thief, and Mage trio are simple enough to understand in a fantasy setting, though aside from armor's weight, differences between Warrior and Thief are probably a bit vague.

Tomoe loves Makoto so much she'd jump him the moment he gives consent, but even after being told she's capable of having children with him, it seems she's not too keen about it. So Root has half-human, half-dragon children with her first husband? I wonder if that will come into play later. They might be more long-lived than their human father, but I wonder for how long.

Nice to know Hibiki has good prospects going for her in this world, I do kind of like her as a character. Couldn't care less about Tomoki though, but Root's assessment of him does seem spot on, he's living dangerously surrounded by royal and harem intrigues, compared to Hibiki's more wholesome life with friends that she can trust.

All this grand talk of lifespans and world travel between inhuman, near godlike beings is making that guy's assassination requests on Makoto look truly petty and pathetic. I don't remember if he's the student Irmgand Hopleys or the teacher Blight, but I suppose it's all going to blow up in his face soon enough, he has absolutely no clue who he's up against.

I think stating that he is more heroic than Makoto isn't spot on. He isn't heroic at all because he just picks fights where he can't lose and runs away when he loses his advantage. Even though Makoto doesn't show any ambition to be a hero I would say that he has at least potential than this "hero". I feel (like in similar stories) extremely sorry for the girls he's practically raping continuously. Hopefully, his crimes will be revealed soon and he will have to suffer for them. Worst thing would be him dying as a "hero" without anything revealed and his victims even mourning after him.

hibitchki as a character
ok, as a character i can understand, but like talking about her one level lower (aka as a person) makes me spew so much vitriol. It involves a lot of WN spoilers, but like, if you've ever read the Malcolm X quotes on white liberals.
Cuz tomoki, it's open and shut. He's a political puppet who decides that the best use of his time is rape in the form of physically overriding people's wills and then effectively masturbating with other people's bodies (it's oddly similar to necrophilia) and then avoids any kind of risk like the plague, and then
generally wrecking everyone and everything for his own gain. It's the kind of thing where you want to invent new methods of torture to... y'know.

Makoto beating him to a pulp was nowhere near enough. Welp, Makoto's moving slowlier now cuz the target on the goddess's back is closer than ever.
But hibitchki is the kind of conceited, chauvinistic asshole who just infuriates a person to no end, and ofc she's part of the japanese elite (japan never denazified, don't @ me). Oh and ofc she's
bourgie and hyuman class conscious, and her best idea is a utopian imagining of the typical bourgeois "democracy." Contrast Rembrandt, who has the same goal but actually knows how to pilot it and what manner of farce it is.

edit: LOOOL, bozo can't handle the fact an LN/manga he likes is in fact political LMAO

Honestly, I have a hard time taking this side of the story seriously. The MC might not be Japanese-style human, but he's definitely human. The author spent too much time anchoring him in human values and feelings to be still able to push that "he doesn't actually act human" narrative.

We ain't there yet in the novel. The final arc has been on hiatus for quite a while.

There is a sequence where he sees many future alternatives of himself but I don't remember all that he saw. I don't think any of them went that far into the future as they dealt with possible outcomes of his decisions.
The futures he sees are one where he meets Tomoe and Mio but not Shiki, one where he meets Tomoki first and becomes his henchman, and one where he meets nobody and goes insane. I won't spoil what happens in them but those are the three alternate worlds he has visions of.

And this is why I hate Tomoe. She never told Makoto the important things. Sure, he didn't ask. But now she straight up lied when he asked about the world travel lecture. She betrayed Makoto and tried to control him by making him want to stay forever in that world. And yet she claimed to be his servant.

She isn't hiding it to keep him from leaving, she's hiding it to make him feel better.

Make him feel better? She wanted him to feel that it wasn't just him who didn't understand? I doubt that. He wanted to understand.

Hmm, not a novel reader so I don't know what is going to happen.

But it would be very disappointing if at the end he does get together with Tomoe and Mio... and then lives about 100 years and dies, and they are left alone.

I don't know, I like my happy endings. Being together while knowing that he's going to die "soon" and then they'd be left alone.... I would call that a very bittersweet ending.

I am hoping for something else.
Vanillachads unite!

We now know that they can give birth to children. And the author's probably foreshadowing his godhood status? I imagine at the end of the story he'll have married both Tomoe and Mio and had children with them.

his parent are from this world, thus makes him Hyuman. But his time on earth makes him human.
This world and our world human are different races.

Thanks for the chapter, Soseki.

"Imagine a grand performance, in which 'all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players'" is where I'd start.

What a loathsome MC. Tomoe is thoroughly complex and wonderfully heartful--a scheming shogun and a lovestruck lady at once. Meanwhile, all said MC can think about at the end of the day--those closest to him be damned and like his garden-variety peers--is how to abandon everything and everyone to return home.

The majority of these authors fail at doing many things right--the escapist component of fantasy is definitely one of them. It's like they want all their audience to know that their human-meatgrinder society is to be loved unconditionally, in perpetuity, and without question.
