Makoto doesn't want to go back to human-meatgrinder society because "he loves the society."

He wants to go back because he cares about his family, the archery dojo he was planning on taking over, and not being in a world where the majority of people (hyumans) scorn him for a variety of reasons, one of which being wholly undeserved arrogance. You act like he left nothing behind and everything was nice and clean about his sudden departure.

This is peak "assuming makes an ass out of you and me" right here. To begin with we never even hear whether Makoto would run away permanently if he could never return
later when the actual possibility pops up again he explicitly says "oh no that's not what i want at all"

"Peak", huh? So you said--and then proceeded to prove your point with a spoiler about a future WN event. You didn't even properly get my words, but you still got your back up over what you thought I said. Besides, what I actually meant is only one of the reasons I consider Makoto a loathsome MC.

Sure, it might only be one of the reasons (you didn't clue or specify either way), but you built an entire tirade based on inconclusive evidence that you jumped to conclusions with, because you stuffed words in Makoto's mouth.

Yes, he asked about returning home. Nobody asked if he'd do it alone, or if he'd do it if he couldn't come back, or anything really, Root just made his brain brick and Tomoe dodged the issue continuously. When Root said the chances were low, Makoto wasn't even gung-ho "even if it's shit i gotta try" he was like "oh... huh..."

And yet somehow you got it into your brain that makoto definitely wanted to go back and apparently because "he loves society" there. I fail to see how this isn't still just you assuming the shit out of a characters' stance before even waiting for them to say or do anything.

Hell, he even drops it almost immediately after getting the simple answer and says "ok let me handle all the shit in this world then" and yet you're sitting here being like "omg he's so evil for wanting to abandon everyone." Like, make it make sense lmao.

Edit: not to mention the promise with tsukuyomi to keep an eye on the other heroes, how tf is he gonna do that if he takes a one-way trip to earth? lmao.

You know, I erred on the side of caution about it (misinterpreting someone's demeanor online isn't the hardest thing in the world) and so kept it to myself, but you really do seem to be waxing indignant in defense of Makoto. Well, I'm totally disinclined to rehash what I was saying--or to try to get through to someone who's taken an antagonistic stance for who knows what reason. lol I'll leave you to keep tilting at that "tirade" you've imagined.

That's you keeping it to yourself? You literally said, and I quote "got your back up over what you thought I said."

Lmao. What the hell else is that supposed to mean? You're literally here saying I'm tilting at windmills indignantly. That's supposed to be caution? my friggin bad lol, I didn't know biting sarcasm (edit: nvm, it's just direct polemic) was actually supposed to be responded to with coddling.

I'm not even here "in defense" of makoto, but rather the writing in general, because you attributed some bizarre shit to it that was not anywhere close to the material in the chapter. Makoto is incredibly naive, and he absolutely could've been more considerate here, but the thing is he's not even the one most at fault because nobody is confronting him about his plans even a little.

There's a shitload of opportunity for Tomoe to actually pull him out and have this chat with him, but again, nobody bothers to. In fact you're doing the exact same shit she is, but as a reader who's ostensibly supposed to be a relatively detached observer. She's nervous about asking because she's actually afraid her fears are gonna be confirmed. the hell is your excuse? trauma from other series?

Edit 2: Finally, you can say it wasn't a tirade all you want, but your original comment is right there, and it did stretch basically every aspect of that conversation to barely tangentially related topics. If that isn't a typical rant/tirade, then very little is, LOL. Not to mention you did ignore the entire first half of my first reply which was known info from prior chapters. You're also assuming (again!) that I'm calling you out for insulting makoto. No. I'm calling you out for just being wrong on all counts in that comment.

Makoto's pretty spineless up until a later event, but he's not one to just ditch everyone randomly if he gets a choice, and that's why he wants to go back to resolve some stuff he didn't really get the opportunity to when he was requested by tsukuyomi. Again, you can look at his actions and reactions in this very chapter to know that he's not just gonna randomly bail, or you can note that he was diligently participating in the archery club even after the botched confessions by the two girls there.

I'm calling you out because you just misread the entire chapter and then got angry and connected things that had no business being connected. (As an aside, do you just, like, not ever contact your parents or friends, nor ever feel the need to, when you go on a trip/move away? like. I don't get it. Is the MC wanting to actually contact his family about his sitch so fucking weird???)

Man she thinks and cares so much about him. It's a shame the manga doesn't dedicate more moments to explore their relationship outside of "do this" "this happened".
