Ah, I was just confused.
Still am actually. It's the first time I've heard that variant and the only source I can find for it is English Wikipedia, so I'm a bit sceptical.
If anything Iraya sounds like a pet name for Iraida, which is a completely different name, but even then it's a strange one.

thats because it is, but our group doesnt translate/include name suffix's (or whatever theyre called i keep forgetting) so we used the next best thing, a pet name. though if its troublesome enough ill talk with the translator

I mean sure, but both the official anime and LN translations have it written as Luminesk. It's just weird as a reader to have the name be different than the official sources.

Excerpt from chapter 1 of the LN:

"The test subject's name is Irina Luminesk," Mozhaysky said. He thrust a new ID card toward Lev. The rank on it read, "Private second class, Air Force."

In addition to this, the provided map in the LN indicates that the nation of Lilitto is the combined region of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, not Romania.

Are you talking about Honorifics? Not sure how nyan is an honorific and even if it was, it should be thought of as a nickname anyways because the honorific blended in with her name.
