Welp, there's that. I may have turned into a masochist for the deep & melancholic lmao.
It feels like Dad is being haunted by an irreversible past, with Marika-chan as the living ghost of her deceased spouse. There are things and circumstances that can never be taken back with how things are, and he'll have to compromise if he is to maintain the status quo.
But... do compromises ever disappear? Isn't that just how life is? A dance never to be danced alone? Souls of differing circumstances seeing eye-to-eye so they could tread the lonely path together?
"We're still together. Just a little bit different."
A miracle had occured, and now they have a chance to spend more time together. It's an opportunity that none had ever anticipated, yet it's also one that's staring right at their faces - like the fireworks that shined over those two all those decades ago. Maybe it's something that Takae had already realized, hence those words at the very end.
Each chapter so far has been making me feel like a sobbing nervous wreck, though I don't mind 🍜🥹
