Crucial bit of character development for Spica this chapter: she now knows that it's possible for somebody to conceal their murder thoughts from her.

Now think, Spica. There's somebody else you've met who's got a curious hole in what you can see of his thoughts. Almost like his mind is an unscannable torus. Some might even call it... doughnut-shaped.
I don’t know if it was necessarily “concealed” since she did “hear” it the moment it popped in his head but I think spica said she could only read “surface level thoughts” so idk if , say , someone kills another five years ago but is living a normal life and brushing up against her it wouldn’t rly be something she’d find out unless her power eventually gets strong enough to read a persons whole life/memory

Ah, the classic case of "can we rightfully punish someone who lost their memories and motication of the crime they have commited"? Always an interesting scenario, and espeically in this case where the killer has actually lived a full life already.

How do you punish someone who already won and has nothing to lose?

That depiction of alzheimer's is genuinely haunting to think about.
Yeah that hit me hard, damn. This guy is a very interesting character, because he's done a lot of bad things in the past, but now he's losing his mind. Is that punishment enough?

It seems this manga trying not to stick to the first premise of "punishing" the bad people, the manga trying to explore different type and scenario that Spica will face instead. Like this old Gorou, it's the first time Spica unable to determine someone's past after touching them due to how messy his mind are so it also possible she will have a hard time to dig into Gorou's past murder, let alone dealing with a murderer that already became a different person.

I think it will be interesting doing this way, if the manga always doing the "punish" type of story then it may get boring soon.
But he is definitely a missing button she will not let this slide do not forget

I feel like what is going to happened isnt punishment for his past crime, but more about due to the whole senile thing he regress back into his younger self, back when he was still a taxi driver and he is going to kill someone again and the she will have to stop him from doing that.

If it was like one murder from fifty years ago I'd say let the guy be, but he brutally murdered probably dozens of people. Alzheimer's or not, Spica should get on the case.

Looking at the raw chapters, its amusing seeing the comments because ... well, you guys can see it for yourself and understand what I mean ...

But I guess I will spoil it a bit in case.

Well the driving is a red herring, what triggered the murders was strangulation with a telephone cord as it seems his father? killed his mother? with the phone cord, his first murder was the same except it was with a prostitute and he used the radio cord. This is why the victims had a cord on their neck as he drove.

But that doesnt end with him, last chapter I saw have Spica digging the photos and his son appearing so chances are he knew and hid or its worst and he continued the "family" tradition, also the old man does try to strangle Spica so that trigger never gone away.

"Back in my serial killing days..."

Spica please, who is not a serial killer in this series? well i guess the edgy boy is the one exception, but still, what's the point of acting surprised? you yourself are a serial killer too!
Hopefully Spica doesn't follow this line of thought to its logical conclusion, namely that the actual misbuttonings in this story are all the non-murderers...

Everyone here saying punishing now would do nothing. Fuck that as Rorschach once said

"A Comedian died last night, and nobody cares. Nobody cares but me."

Justice must be delivered.

Given her three strike rules, i wonder if she'll meet someone on their first and second strike and observe them for a while but got busy with other targets and them ending up killing a third person like 5 years later or so versus soon, idk if she'd adjust to kill someone sooner or threaten/call them out or so lol versus baiting/taunting them into attacking /her/ so she has an excuse to eliminate them like the sensei from the first arc

didnt he only kill people nobody would miss lol

I mean it's not like he was killing runaways/orphans/delinquents, while they might've been in the demographic that would be common to go missing, it's not as if he thoroughly did research on every victim or anything 'cause if they went in a taxi most likely they had jobs at least, while some are replaceable i think it'd def be noticed if you just didn't show up to work the next day versus some extended holiday or so, but who knows, maybe it was like the 'first' victim we saw where they were saying edgy things/talking about how awful their life was so he decided to take action or so
