UKIC updates are back! And damn, this was one heavy chapter... That whole sense of betrayal made it pretty hard to translate and typeset it. 😢 I really wanted to update this immediately after Chapter 9 so the sense of betrayal is fresher, but well... Life happened.

Also, to those who find that the series is moving a little slow... This manhua is a bit of a slow burner, so if that's not your thing I would recommend waiting for a couple of chapters before binging. The main conflict of the story only really starts to take off from Chapter 16 onwards, and the bonding between our two leads is a gradual but really sweet development. 😘

On no, poor Xiao Qiao. Of course, our favorite assassin wouldn't let her get hurt like this...right?

@konohananiji Thanks for the chapter! I'm enjoying this so far, and slow burners are kinda my fave.

I'm surprised that since she already apparently had past experiences (based on her words), she still fell for the trap like a novice. Deserves to be sold as a prostitute, being used and then dumped like the trash that she is for running away from her rescuer. Dumbass little bitch.

This was a hard one to read. It definitely wouldn’t be safe though for a young girl out on her own in the world she lives in. Better for her to stay with assassin.

While it's good ML did not kill her, he's an assassin and thus hardly classifies as "good people". Do keep in mind the only reason he didn't kill her was she made some wicked good Noddles lol

Being an assassin doesn't make you a bad person. It's just a job. @draw2much our governments hire top class assassins all the time. You just need to be at the craft in order to get special treatment.

@siikalahna MC has never been to a refugee camp, so how could you say she should have expected this? I doubt a 15 year old girl would think deeply about the dangers of a refugee camp, since there is so much to consider (how involved the government is, what conditions brought the refugees there, how much help they are receiving, etc). All of that factors into what kind of place the camp is, so how can you expect her to forsee the human trafficking? Besides, she had been there not even an hour after running from authorities. Let her catch a break

Also, her rescuer is a goddamn assassin?????? He literally murdered the entire residence in presumably around an hour???????? You do not treat a person like that lightly, and you certainly don’t consider them your rescuer when he only spared you on a whim. Your expectations are unrealistic. If you think about the whole story so far, you should find that the MC is not a “dumbass little b*tch” 🙄

What? She called the bluff almost immediately. The refugee camp part was 100% innocent of anything suspicious, which is why she trusted them to an extent. Also this past experience, was a not specifically drawn out. It is directed towards at minimum a kidnapping (as stated in an earlier chapter), but beyond that it is still somewhat vague. But I am pretty sure it was not a replica of the situation now.

And her "rescuer" not only is an assassin, but killed an entire house of people more or less right in front of her, spared then kidnapped her because of her food, brought her back to his cave, claimed her as his MATE (though he may have been meaning something else by it), and finally she was then drugged and made to pass out from poisoning. None of that was her idea. She was literally carried through it by some guy she does not know. For all she knows, he plans to make her his sex slave/toy. And if he were to ever be caught, she would immediately be treated as an accomplice (like she is now even).
