I don't think it's explicitly confirmed in the story, but it's pretty obvious that it has to be. Same character designs, same cat senpai/wife gag, lots of the same recurring lines (eg "my senpai/wife is tiny and cute"), same sort of banter between them. It pretty much has to be a sequel or flash-forward otherwise the author just looks like he has zero range.
