So we are even getting development on the misogynist? thought he was kind of a set up but this is interesting.
I don't know if I am mistaken in my impression, but could the story maybe head in the direction of this "guy's dorm" full of guys who "have trouble with women" in some way or another have their "gender barrier" broken down by Ume's TSituation? That could be a fun spin.

I feel like this is what the story is going to be, they all have trouble with women and get better or reformed by Ume's situation, it would not surprise me if they all made wishes at the shrine.

How much of a girl was Ume before he turned?
He seemed quite feminine, judging from his flashback with his cousins.

I see, no one is having sex in this series.... like always. I'd be fine with it if this authors actual romance series weren't written the same way. Which, jokes aside, isn't about sex, but constant teasing into nothing.

This is often something I've noticed some women like about this genre. Like, Mahiro's voice actress (Onimai) said an in interview she fell in love with Mahiro and performing as Mahiro after reading the chapter about periods. An empathy bridge. I'm guessing Orihara-sensei is trying to do something similar with Ume. I like what she's cooking so far!

Well you got me curious as to what you meant, and when I checked the author's past works I understood.

All of this author's works are pretty toned down in DA LEWDS. Their works are more like 4-koma style comedy manga who tend to go on until the author gets bored and goes "K ITS DONE BYE" and just suddenly ends the story without much climax.

That's what i noticed after giving Nakamura-San a brief read too (up to the first vol atm). Seems like this is more "serious" while Nakamura's the com side of a romcom, a contrast that could work out nicely if either one is handled well.

Not really feminine. I'm guessing when he was a guy he was the muscle-brain, all smiles type of guy. The trope of the dumb guy who is always smiling. If you want a good example, think Hairo from Saiki K (easiest example I could think of) where the guy is just very genuine and appreciative. The smiles would have been less feminine but rather like when those dense air-headed MCs give their signature smile that charms the FMCs. The only reason it seems feminine to you is because it's a girl doing it. Smiling and being appreciative isn't a feminine trait in manga. Plenty of male MCs have talked about their feelings and appreciated their friends while giving those kinds of smiles, and then teasing them after.

I can easily imagine a male MC in this exact same scenario. Plus his other traits of being touchy-feely and muscle brained aren't typical feminine traits in real life, and are gender neutral in mangas. Just imagine an ikemen replacing her in all panels and you can easily see it.
