The new girl would be constantly called to the office in an American school. The school nurses aren't even able to give out a pain killer like aspirin or Tylenol. All they can do is give advice, patch scratches, let kids rest, and give it prescribed meds.

I really do wonder at times how accurate these school settings are. If anything, they seem to work more as a business as compared to ours, which work more like prisons (really strict attendance; hardened entry ways for school shootings; etc.). Japan does have a decent wall and gate system too though. Haven't seen an American school that locks up the gate during the day, outside of the schools used for kids in halfway or juvey houses.

I've a couple people like that. People who have so much bad luck, particularly with health, they seem to be cursed. Both of them, despite being the most unfortunate people I know are also some of the kindest.
