I don't understand the point of making him a villain so forcefully when he had nothing to lose to wait for the others inside a helo operated by soldiers.
The helicopter could have simply stuck to its orders and drop the bag of supplies without that drama and if it was to get rid of him he can simply be killed by a fish at anytime.
