I can already tell that Tsumugi would hate this explanation because it implies her parents’ love wasn’t reciprocal. We don’t really know anything to make any kind of judgment calls. It might help if we learned more about examples of both stringed and non-stringed pairings.

It seems a little unfair how avoidant Tsumugi is being with Amiyama all because of the string. Honestly I think she needs to go on a course of self love if her sense of self worth is so thin that the idea that her parents didn't love each other is enough to feel like she is a mistake.

The premise was ruined the moment the thread appeared and linked Tsumugi with someone she actually liked. It immediately made Tsumugi wrong, and now we are just watching her being in denial.

This is the kind of story where three characters are actually needed. If you want to prove that Tsumugi was right you would have her fall for someone she's not linked by the thread. As it stands now, the thread and Tsumugi's denial are just gimmicks to keep her and Amamiya from dating.

I like these kind of stories (generaly fluffy, it's obvious the two are into each other pretty much from the start etc), but in this case I would have to agree that this just seems like a waste, I can't imagine the thread mattering that much except as an artificial plot device (and I guess some weird worldbuilding). Maybe that will be plenty enough to carry the story though...

I dont understand how japanese Authors cant go past describing a girl other than cute or cool and its especially evident in Yuri manga,like they have so many words for the same stuff but use most of their letters,like not even beautiful lol
