It's very likely that Lalos went in already knowing it'll be a 2v2 though, since he probably kept in touch with Fukurou right until the matches started. Whereas, Baku went in blind. So there's some info mismatch. Adds another layer to the third round and that calamity, since Lalos might've been betting that the calamity would cause something terrible to happen in the other match. Plus, if Baku actually had any idea it was a 2v2 alongside Hal, he probably wouldn't have been so eager to let Lalos in on the trick behind the cards and instead let him flounder more, since that move was more to bring Lalos to the same level and taunt him into using more oxygen.
